Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Mark Fortin of Two Sappy Guys Sugar House in Bedford was excited to hear of proposed funding to help local maple syrup producers. With maple trees under increased stress from climate change and increasing temperatures, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and a group of New England senators proposed $30 million dollars for the federal maple support program as part of the U.S. farm bill, “which Congress reauthorizes every five years to support agriculture nationwide.” “We’re a small producer, so any help we can get certainly helps,” Fortin said. (New Hampshire Public Radio)
  2. A shoutout to the 2023 Booster Club Scholarship winners: “Sydney Grogan and Nolan ArnoldRich Beyer: Ava Dubois and Evan CibottiAdrenaline: Kendal Joyce and Luke TsaiMany thanks to Blaise Whitman of Adrenaline Fundraising, Mary and Rich Beyer.” And a shoutout to “our very own Alyssa O’Neil for presenting.”Congratulations.
