10 Former WWE Babyfaces Who Shouldn’t Be Trusted

10 Former WWE Babyfaces Who Shouldn’t Be Trusted

Former WWE babyfaces that proved they shouldn’t be trusted will see that label follow their characters since wrestling fans never forget. Wrestlers moving to other promotions like AEW, New Japan, Impact Wrestling and beyond will attempt to play face characters again by putting the past behind them.

However, history has shown that wrestlers will reference that past and often use it for future heel turns. Triple H had a sadistic side come out every time his face runs ended. Even beloved fan favorites like AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy used the shock and awe for their heel turns. The following former WWE faces should be viewed as untrustworthy in their current promotions due to the past.

10 CM Punk

CM Punk in Jeff Hardy facepaint

CM Punk is quite polarizing among fans after his AEW antics mirrored the same issues as his WWE time. However, the character alignment of Punk has always been a babyface outside of a one-time thing trashing MJF’s Long Island fans.

WWE witnessed Punk’s face character proving to be untrustworthy. Heel turns attacking The Rock or stealing the World Championship from Jeff Hardy shows to not get comfortable with him. Punk betraying allies in AEW may very well happen if history repeats itself.

9 Fred Rosser

John Cena Vs Nexus

Former WWE star Darren Young currently wrestles under the name of Fred Rosser in New Japan’s US expansion. The time in WWE featured Young involved in one of the most ruthless acts when Nexus formed to destroy everyone at the ringside area.

Every member of Nexus proved to be untrustworthy by having such a dastardly run after starting as generally good guys in NXT. Rosser currently is making waves in a new chapter of his career. Even though NJPW rarely has drastic character twists like WWE, Rosser could easily tap into that side.

8 Trinity

Naomi Paige

Impact Wrestling is currently gaining buzz for Naomi aka Trinity signing there after her WWE exit. Trinity is a great babyface that will likely keep to that spirit throughout the rest of her time in the new promotion.

The WWE run as Naomi mostly featured her remembered for being such a great face, but she had some treacherous moments. A heel turn betraying Paige and another questionable moment splitting from Sasha Banks in Team BAD should keep the Knockouts division wary of her actions.

7 Bryan Danielson

Daniel-Bryan

A more interesting tale of a former WWE wrestler proving he couldn’t be trusted and having the same scenario play out in AEW was Bryan Danielson. WWE witnessed Bryan having a few moments showing questionable character when leaning to the heel side.

Danielson treating AJ Lee poorly as her boyfriend led to the first major heel turn. Another wild moment for Bryan came when using a low blow to win the WWE Championship from AJ Styles. Danielson was a face for most of his AEW run, but he showed his true colors by manipulating Kenny Omega before embracing the heel Blackpool Combat Club.

6 Jon Moxley

Dean Ambrose Turns Heel on Seth Rollins

The other half of Blackpool Combat Club leadership features Jon Moxley having a similar track record from WWE to AEW to his current role. Moxley was a beloved AEW face for most of his run, but the WWE run should have warned others.

The shocking moment of Moxley attacking Seth Rollins to end their tag run started a failed heel run. Moxley’s WWE character completely missed the mark, but he perfected it in AEW. The Blackpool Combat Club certainly followed that same path of Moxley proving he didn’t warrant the trust.

5 Billy Gunn

CM Punk New Age Outlaws

WWE had Billy Gunn on the roster for over a decade as one of the most respected veterans. Gunn often worked best as a heel and got by with shady actions. The New Age Outlaws formed through doing awful things to others like shaving Road Warrior Hawk’s mohawk or throwing a dumpster with Mick Foley and Cactus Jack off a stage.

Even the last WWE run of Gunn featured a betrayal towards CM Punk when joining The Authority with Road Dogg. AEW fans were expecting Billy to turn heel during The Acclaimed vs Gunn Club feud, but fans should still be skeptical of a heel turn down the line due to his history.

4 Rhino

John Cena vs Rhyno WWE SmackDown

One of the most credible veterans today still contributing to the business is Rhino in Impact Wrestling. WWE, ECW, TNA and ROH have all used Rhino as a noteworthy part of the show. Rhino even turned down a contract offer from WWE at the end of his last stint there to do more elsewhere.

Impact currently uses Rhino as a valuable part of the roster with some big matches and a fun tag team reunion with Heath Slater. However, Rhino has been dastardly in his WWE past to question his motives. Chris Benoit lost in the finals of a tournament to crown WWE’s first United States Champion due to Rhino betraying him for more of a spotlight.

3 Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy Turns on Jeff Hardy WWE Royal Rumble 2009

The babyface run of Matt Hardy is going well in AEW right now with Jeff Hardy returning to reunite the Hardy Boyz act. Isiah Kassidy joining them as Matt’s protégé has started a fun a little group act, but both Jeff and Kassidy should avoid turning their back.

Matt betrayed Jeff multiples, including his heel turn revealed as the mystery culprit trying to injure Jeff during his WWE Championship reign. There is a real chance Matt will remain a face for the rest of his career, but history says to doubt his motives.

2 Mickie James

Mickie James Vs. Trish Stratus

WWE introduced Mickie James through a wild storyline stalking Trish Stratus before eventually making her life hell. The debut angle made Mickie a star with great results, but it always made fans wonder if she would go back to that side when playing a face.

James also showed an untrustworthy nature when aligning with Alexa Bliss to cost Becky Lynch multiple title matches. Recent history has seen Mickie in the beloved babyface legend role for Impact Wrestling, but the chance of a betrayal going back to her WWE style should not be overlooked.

1 Adam Cole

Adam Cole Turns On Kyle OReilly

The NXT stint of Adam Cole saw him betraying just about everyone that was close to him. Undisputed Era turning face with Kyle O’Reilly having a great push led to Cole attacking them when he got the chance to stab his best friends in the back.

Even the short AEW stint saw Cole attacking the Young Bucks and showing they were foolish for trusting him. The return comeback sees Cole as a babyface everyone wants to support, but everything about his past makes it a risky proposition for wrestlers trusting him.
