21-year-old Liverpool target looking more and more likely to leave

21-year-old Liverpool target looking more and more likely to leave

Reported Liverpool target Moises Caicedo is looking more and more like leaving Brighton in the summer transfer window.

Caciedo has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, helping the Seagulls into the European spots. This has inevitably led to claims that he could leave for pastures new, with Liverpool one of the sides reportedly on his tail.

And according to The Guardian today, it’s now ‘increasingly likely’ that Caicedo will find himself at a new club by the time next season rolls around.

Quite what that club will be is still unclear. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are named as the most likely candidates, but Liverpool get a mention, too.

For now though, the Reds’ main interest would appear to be in Caicedo’s teammate Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine is another said to be ever more likely to leave the Amex this summer. In his case, Liverpool are indeed said to be in ‘pole position’ to land him.

Brighton slap huge price-tag on Caicedo

As things stand, it doesn’t seem particularly likely that Liverpool will be the ones winning the race for Caciedo. Just as The Guardian corroborate, Mac Allister is the player seemingly more get-able for the Reds.

And when you consider the price Brighton are reportedly asking for the Ecuadorian, it’s no wonder. Reports yesterday claim that the Seagulls want around £100m to sell their midfielder star.

He’s a good player and all, Caicedo, but you must be joking.

He might have been one of the standout midfielders of the Premier League campaign, but he’s amassed just 41 appearances in the division. This season has been his first full one since joining Brighton in 2020.

Of course, there’s much more that goes into a transfer fee than experience. But any club seriously thinking about putting down nine figures for Caicedo needs to have a long old lie down.

That won’t bother Brighton, who will happily keep him for as long as they can.

Caciedo already handed in a very public transfer request in January, though. Things seem to have been settled between him and his current club since, but block his way with a £100m valuation and you can see it turning ugly again.

If it does, it’s feasible that Liverpool will throw their hat in the ring. But unless the price comes down, Caicedo won’t be moving to Merseyside anytime soon.
