Arrests in Falmouth after police Operation Loki ends

Operation Loki, which ran for four weeks in Falmouth, has now come to an end and seen 12 arrests, four assaults being investigated, five referrals to mental health services, 11 drug incidents, 584 vehicle checks, two speeding tickets, two bald tyre offences, one vehicle seized & 34 words of advice.

The operation, which launched in Truro on April 17 before arriving in Falmouth on April 24, looked to highlight policing tactics including high-visibility patrols, schools prevention activity, traffic operations, surveys and community engagement.

The operation spanned both counties and included targeted policing activity in Devon, including in Torquay, Exeter, Barnstable and Plymouth, covering all of the Force’s Safer Streets funded areas. 

In an update on its social media pafe, Falmouth and Helston Police said: “OpLoki has come to an end in Falmouth with 12 arrests, four assaults being investigated, five referrals to mental health services, 11 drug incidents, 584 vehicle checks, two speeding tickets, two bald tyre offences, one vehicle seized & 34 words of advice.”

During Operation Loki, Packet reporter, Ryan Morwood, caught up with Falmouth Police’s Neighbourhood Sergeant, Chris Vincent on patrol for a chat about what what had been happening in the area.

Speaking about the response from the community, Chris told The Packet: “It’s been really good.

“We had student officers out on patrol and they were stopped by a member of the public saying it was nice to see them out and about.

“By us doing this operation, we’ve got extra people helping us, we’ve got extra resources that we’re bringing in, just to show that we are dealing with these things.

“We have continued to monitor for potential antisocial behaviour in the town centre at Grove Place carpark. We have received feedback from a local business owner than incidents of driving in the area antisocially has reduced and we will keep an eye on behaviour in the area.”

“Our Neighbourhood policing team have engaged with more than 800 people in Falmouth during #OpLoki including at our pop up gazebo on the Moor, and we’ve received some good feedback about our visibility in the town.

“We will continue to keep our community updated as we work to keep Falmouth a safe place to live and visit.”
