Retired US Army SFC and Bishop Henry “Hank” Baker passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the age of 83.

Hank was born on July 5, 1939 in Missouri and he was the son of the late Virginia and Ed Baker. His first wife of 44 years, Patricia Baker and many other family members also preceded him in death.

Hank was retired military and he started his career with Basic Training in Ft Leonardwood, Missouri and he retired as US Army SFC from Ft Bragg, North Carolina. After his retirement from the Military, he moved his family to Oviedo, Florida in 1976 and then to Tennessee in 1978. Bishop Baker received multiple Bachelor Degrees in Psychology and Theology. He also held a Masters Degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Theology. He loved to camp and actually pulled his own camper until he was 82 years of age. He loved to travel and especially going places to try food. He was an avid gun/rifel collector. Loved to read and spread the Word of God to all who had ears to hear. His final love was working for and with the DAV/Vietnam Veterans of TN. His last assignment for the DAV was the Commander of the DAV of Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Baker (17 years) of Cleveland, TN; children, Ricky and Heidi Baker and Sheldon and Donna Baker, both of Cleveland, TN; Kristy and Tommy Sheffield of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Taylor Baker, Brandie Baker, Amber and Matthew Adkins, all of Cleveland, TN; Nikki and Will McKinney, Trevor and Jessie Sheffield, all of Thomasville, N.C.; great-grandkids, Reagan Robertson of Cleveland, TN; Ryleigh and Kinsley McKinney; Atlas, Arison and Alita Sheffield, all of Thomasville, N.C.; step-children, Kendall and Vickie Davis; Brian and Sarah Petty, both of Cleveland, TN; step-grandchildren, Kyra Petty and Deouin and Joseph Rouse and Lebron and Amanda Davis all of Cleveland, TN; and step great-grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Rouse and Elijah, Logan, and Madison all of Cleveland TN.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Londa Richardson and Reverend Ron Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Ricky Baker, Sheldon Baker, Tommy Sheffield, Trevor Sheffield, Wayne Walker and Stoney Daniels serving as casket bearers. Military honors will be given.
