Bruno Guimaraes posts two-word tweet about teammate that Newcastle fans will absolutely love

Newcastle United can now officially boast about having two Brazil internationals in their side as Joelinton has finally received a called up much to the delight of his teammate Bruno Guimaraes.

With just an hour before kick-off in Newcastle‘s final game of the season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the news broke that Newcastle’s 2021/22 Player of the Season, Joelinton had finally been selected for international duty.

Before the news had really even reached British shores, Bruno Guimaraes had posted a two-word tweet (with some added emojis) that told an entire story – The tweet was simply “Big Joe” followed by three Brazilian flag emojis, and we all knew what it meant.

Two words was all it took to make Newcastle fans smile

It has been a long time coming with many Newcastle fans still not ever the fact that he was overlooked for Brazil’s World Cup squad in favour of Manchester United‘s Fred.

Joelinton’s call-up really is the icing on the cake for the 26-year-old after the ultimate footballing Cinderella story.

He came to Newcastle as the club’s record signing, handed the famous number nine shirt, stuck up front and told to go and score goals – despite the fact that he wasn’t a striker, never had been and clearly was never going to be.

Joelinton became a laughing stock, the punchline to many a pundit’s jokes as the Brazilian struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League. Newcastle fans sympathised with Joelinton as they knew he was playing out of position, but at the same time just wanted to the nightmare to end.

Before the takeover, and before Eddie Howe‘s tactical masterstroke that changed his career forever, we’d happily have cut our losses just to get him off the books.

Joelinton finally gets to pull on that famous Brazil shirt

But then fate intervened in the form of Ciaran Clark – once a Newcastle Player of the Season himself in 2016/17 – got himself sent off after eight minutes against Norwich, forcing Eddie Howe into a change that would transform Joelinton from laughing stock, to, and this is absolutely not hyperbole, a world-class midfielder.

Joelinton became the absolute driving force behind Newcastle’s change in fortunes, even more so when he started to form a partnership in the middle of the park with fellow Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes.

Now Big Joe gets to prove himself as a world-class talent by pulling on the most famous shirt in world football.

Huge congratulations to Joelinton, what a ride it has been.
