Darren Moore and Barry Bannan share heartwarming moment in Sheffield Wednesday dressing room video

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore delivered a heartwarming message after the stunning comeback against Peterborough.

The Owls went into their League One play-off semi-final second leg at Hillsborough 4-0 down from the first.

Moore told his players just how proud he was of their efforts

All the Wednesday stars were attentive and listened to his speech

However, despite all the odds, they won by the same scoreline and took the game to extra-time thanks to a Liam Palmer goal in eighth minute of stoppage time.

Both sides scored to keep the aggregate score at 5-5, before Wednesday sealed a trip to Wembley with a penalty shootout win.

It will go down as one of the most stunning comebacks in football, and Moore was on hand to congratulate his players with a wholesome message after.

In footage from their dressing room, he said: “Fellas listen. I’m absolutely just so proud of every single one of you.

“We had a bit of adversity in the first game and we knew we didn’t perform but listen lads, it just goes to show what preparation does.

“We’ve prepared all week the mindset, the mentality and in training I want to say this to you, the belief has been there from day dot, and I can’t commend you all enough in terms of what you just produced out there.

“Listen boys, we’ve got one more, OK. Enjoy tonight but we’ve got one more, but I’m so proud, lets’ go!”

But before the dressing room erupted in celebration, Wednesday captain Barry Bannan wanted to give Moore his share of the glory.

Bannan responded: “This last week, what you’ve done to change our mindsets… You and the staff have been unbelievable.

“There were some people who were down and what you told us… the work you and the staff have put in has been unbelievable. So thank you.”

Moore also spoke to talkSPORT after the dramatic encounter, and revealed that he played videos of comeback’s to his players to inspire them to victory.

He said: “We prepared and we had a real strong belief, we really did. Even showing videos of comebacks throughout the whole week, making the mindset showing games where a team had come back from a ridiculous scoreline, so the mindset and mentality was prepared all week.

“We worked on things like that throughout the course of the week, so that’s why when you speak to the players or speak to any of the staff, we were prepared.

“I’m just so pleased for everyone connected to the football club that was here tonight to witness that, we’ve got one more game to go.”

Wednesday will now face either Barnsley or Bolton Wanderers in the play-off final, with the winner being promoted to the Championship.
