Big race favourite Auguste Rodin has been given an enormous boost even before he runs in Saturday’s Betfred Derby.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt has secured the ‘lucky’ stall in the draw for the £1.5 million Epsom Classic.

He will start from stall 10 after the draw was made following the declaration of 14 horses for the racing showpiece.

The layout of Epsom racecourse, which is roughly shaped like a horseshoe, provides a test unique to the track.

Horses have to travel uphill from the start and then downhill to Tattenham Corner where the cambered straight gradually rises to the winning post.

For that reason the draw can play a key part in bigger fields and the race can be won or lost in the early skirmishes for a favoured position.

Stall 10 has produced ten winners since 1967, most recently Masar in 2018.

Stalls 1, allocated to Dear My Friend, and 5 (Dubai Mile) are the second most successful with six winners each.
