East Kilbride v Bo’ness: Fellowes looks to sign off with Lowland League Cup glory
East Kilbride interim boss Martin Fellowes is hoping to sign off from his time at the club with silverware on Sunday and give his players something to show for their efforts this season.
The 25-year-old took the reins from Kevin Rutkiewicz in March with the target of defending the Lowland League Cup and he is one step away from achieving that goal, after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Stirling University earned 10-man Kilby a place in this weekend’s final against Bo’ness United.
Fellowes, who is set to leave Kilby to take the manager’s job at St Cadoc’s next season, will take his side to Berwick’s Shielfield Park looking for the club’s fourth win in the competition in nine years.
And he said: “It would be a great way for me to sign off as the manager – but it’s not about me.
“I’d be delighted for the players and the supporters if they can get this moment to enjoy after what has been a difficult season for everybody.
“We’d love to give them something to cheer about.
“It will be me signing off from the first team on Sunday and I remember when [former manager] Billy Ogilvie signed off from his first team duties with the Lowland League Cup [in 2016] so it would be nice to do that.
“We won a trophy at Berwick a while ago when Martin Lauchlan was the manager. We’ve had some good results there in recent years as well so I hope we can add some more good memories.

“But I’ve got a cup final for the under-20s later in the month so there is still some work for me to do at the club.
“The focus is only on the team getting a result on Sunday and the only chat will be about Bo’ness.”
Kilby will be the favourites given they finished three places above their rivals in the Lowland League this term, but Fellowes insists it is a ‘50/50’ game.
He added: “The pressure is off now. Once you’ve put the work in and gone through the tough away games that they’ve gone through, I always felt the pressure would be off and what will be will be.
“Finals can be the toss of a coin and the boys can look forward to what will be a cracking game.
“I think it is always a 50/50 game. Bo’ness, with the nature of the cup [which is played across the last few weeks of the season], will be in as good form as we are.
“It will be a bit of a journey for both teams having to make it down to Berwick, but both teams will be desperate to get their hands on the trophy.”
