Leeds United’s EFL fixtures have been confirmed this week, with the club keeping an eye on when they will be returning to face some of their Yorkshire rivals.

As Leeds dropped back into the Championship, the fixture release provided a chance for all of the rest of the division to put a note in their calendars for when they face Leeds United.

It’s the biggest day out for virtually every team in the division, not least for those living in reasonably close proximity to West Yorkshire.

With Leeds mapping out their season with a hopeful promotion straight back to the Premier League, we look at every Yorkshire derby across the campaign…

September 2: Sheffield Wednesday (H)

Kicking off Leeds’ Yorkshire derbies for the season is a home clash against turbulent Sheffield Wednesday, who clinched their dramatic promotion through the League One play-offs, coming back from 4-0 down in the semi-final before a last-gasp winner in extra-time in the final.

Leeds took just one point from the Owls during their promotion-winning season in 19/20, with Garry Monk getting the better of Leeds that term.

September 20: Hull City (A)

Hull City away is a fixture that will spark great memories for Leeds fans from that promotion campaign, being the penultimate game before the lengthy break in the season.

A 4-0 triumph away saw Hull mauled by the Tyler, as Roberts’ brace sealed a brilliant win.

Will Leeds get promoted in 2023/24?

October 28: Huddersfield Town (H)

Incidentally, Leeds’ next Yorkshire derby was the next fixture in that 19/20 season, with Leeds hosting their nearest rivals from West Yorkshire, Neil Warnock’s Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers were up against it last season as they scraped survival under the EFL veteran manager, and will be hoping they can breathe a little easier this term.

November 25: Rotherham United (A)

Leo Hjelde spent last term with Rotherham, as they managed to stave off relegation to League One for the first time since 15/16, yo-yoing between the second and third tiers since then.

Leeds’ last meetings against Rotherham were in Marcelo Bielsa’s first year at Leeds (18/19), where Leeds did the double, the second being at the New York Stadium, where Mateusz Klich’s brace sealed a 2-1 comeback.

February 10: Rotherham United (H)

The reverse is up next for Leeds after the January transfer window, where the Whites host the Millers at Elland Road.

Rotherham have only won once at Elland Road since 1962.

March 2: Huddersfield Town (A)

A trip to the John Smith’s Stadium awaits Leeds in March, where Leeds will be hoping to silence their local rivals.

It’ll be a raucous atmosphere for the Terriers’ biggest game of the season.

March 9: Sheffield Wednesday (A)

Not long after that, Leeds face another away trip in Sheffield Wednesday, a ground that has some great and awful memories attached to it where Leeds performances are concerned.

There’s a 6-0 battering that we’re reminded of, but there’s also a 6-1 win that lives in the memory too (and we won the First Division title that year).

April 1: Hull City (H)

Capping off Leeds’ Yorkshire derbies for the season is an April Fools’ Day meeting with the Tigers.

Hull’s last trip to Elland Road was an EFL Cup clash in the 20/21 season as Leeds geared up for their first season back in the Premier League, and they came out winners on penalties.

Can you remember Leeds United’s most recent result against their 23/24 Championship rivals?
