Every Championship player released so far as Coventry and Blackburn swoop for free agents

Every Championship player released so far as Coventry and Blackburn swoop for free agents

Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers have secured two of the more eye-catching free agents available in the Championship this summer.

Coventry, fresh from losing the play-off final on Saturday, have announced their retained list and agreed a four-year contract with Jay Dasilva, who has just left Bristol City. Fankaty Dabo, who missed the decisive penalty at Wembley, has been released as well as centre-half Michael Rose, who played a prominent role in their promotion from League One.

Blackburn have tied up Plymouth Argyle striker Niall Ennis on a four-year contract too, with the option of a fifth year. Ennis scored 14 times in League One but has turned down a new deal at Home Park and moved north for free. He is tasked with filling the boots of Ben Brereton-Diaz, who is expected to sign for Villarreal.

Stoke have already confirmed their retained list, with goodbyes to players including Nick Powell, Morgan Fox, Sam Clucas and Phil Jagielka.

Norwich have released seven players including Teemu Pukki, Sam Byram and Kieran Dowell. Millwall have let Scott Malone and Mason Bennett leave and Rotherham are not keeping Wes Harding nor Richard Wood.

Birmingham suggest that “talks remain ongoing with a number” of the six players who they have released; Maxime Colin, Harlee Dean, Troy Deeney, George Friend, Jordan Graham and Kevin Long.
