Every food hygiene rating for cafes, restaurants and bars on Newcastle’s Northumberland Street

Every food hygiene rating for cafes, restaurants and bars on Newcastle’s Northumberland Street

Northumberland Street, which is embedded into the heart of Newcastle City Centre, epitomises the hustle and bustle of a Northern working class city. Offering visitors plenty to both do and see, there are numerous reasons why people may opt for a day out on the usually bustling community hub.

From high end retailers, to all-in-one department stores, quaint cafes to heavily-favoured fast food joints – the key street offers everything you could want in a city centre.

And while the eateries are vast and almost never ending, how well do they scrub up when it comes to food hygiene and cleanliness? After all, it would be good to know considering hundreds, potentially thousands, dine from them day in, day out.

Here, Chronicle Live explains. In the ratings, five is top of the scale, where standards are very good and zero is at the bottom, where urgent improvement is necessary. Each business is given a rating after an inspection by the Food Standards Agency with requirements, if necessary, on how to improve hygiene.
