Ex-GB News and ITV Central star’s elderly mum robbed in broad daylight in Wolverhampton
An ex-GB News and ITV Central star has hit out at a cruel thief who robbed her elderly mum outside a Wolverhampton bank. Balvinder Sidhu said she was “furious” after discovering mum Harbans Kaur was targeted in “broad daylight”.
The 81-year-old pensioner has since been left “shaken up” over the scary ordeal which saw a thief snatch £500 from her, the presenter said. Ms Kaur is believed to have been at Nationwide, in Dudley Street, when a young woman followed her inside.
The thief then watched the “vulnerable” mum – who is the sole carer of Sidhu’s disabled sister – withdraw cash before following her outside and swiping the money. The alleged incident has been reported to West Midlands Police.

Sidhu said on Twitter today: “I really hope West Midlands Police catch the person who robbed my mum Harbans Kaur in broad daylight. The bank should have CCTV and mum can help identify.
“People like this need to be caught and people like my mum deserve to feel safe.” Sidhu initially shared news of the alleged incident on social media yesterday (Friday, June 24).
She told her followers how she had found the robbery even more upsetting as she is currently in Singapore. She said: “I am furious – shame on the young woman who robbed my mum, an 81-year-old pensioner, in broad daylight near the Nationwide bank in Wolverhampton city centre.
“The woman followed my mum into the bank and watched her withdraw £500 before following her outside and taking her money. Shame on you, not only is mum elderly but the sole carer of my sister who has a learning disability.
“I’m furious the woman is young and should be working/earning her money not robbing people like my mum. Please be vigilant! I’m living in Singapore and have left my belongings unattended in cafes/restaurants because I’ve been assured not to worry about theft.
“When I hear what’s happened to mum, I can’t help but wonder why are people not afraid of breaking the law in the UK like they are here???” Sidhu, who is now a freelance presenter, later thanked the public for their concern over the incident.
She added: “Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts apart from being shaken up my mum is ok. Thankfully she wasn’t assaulted.
“She’s old and vulnerable and already on high alert when she goes out so this incident will affect her confidence and independence – it’s upsetting because I’m far away.”
