Exeter dog desperate for a pint has viewers in stitches

Exeter dog desperate for a pint has viewers in stitches

A stubborn dog has left customers and staff at an Exeter pub in fits of giggles after refusing to walk past without popping in. The charismatic dog, Grenson has become a treasure on social media after deciding to have a “stand-off” outside of The Stand Off pub on Longbrook Street.

The pub’s co-owner Matthew Reynolds told us that the situation went on for around three minutes before owner Kate managed to convince him to continue his walkies. And, it’s not the first time the four-legged friend has halted outside of this pub.

After the pub shared the hilarious video on social media, which received 1K reactions, it launched an appeal to find the owner and the dog as they wanted to cook him a ‘slap up dog’s dinner’ of his choice, including a free meal for his owner.

Matthew told DevonLive: “It was really funny, the regulars and the manager saw it happening. It was funny that the dog had done that. The ironic thing is our pub is called The Stand Off, and the dog was having a standoff, outside of The Stand Off. That’s what made it even funnier.

“You can hear people talking in the background of the video laughing about it, even asking the owner to bring him in. He was probably there for a good three minutes.”

The pub shared on Facebook following the comical moment: “HELP NEEDED… we would love to get in touch with THE STAR OF THE SHOW… as a thank you for loving our bar and having A STAND OFF with your owner outside THE STAND OFF… we would like to cook you a slap up DOG’S DINNER of your choice (steak, chops, sausages, whatever is his favourite!). Please get in touch. Obviously we will also offer the owner dinner on us as well! We can’t wait to hear from you!”
