13:50 (Market Rasen) Gaius

Jeepydoff Meel forced a dead-heat for second in handicap company over 2m1f at Cartmel last month and a stiffer test of stamina can bring about further improvement for Philip Kirby’s inmate.

However, Gaius finished a fair second over an extended 2m at Aintree most recently and the unexposed four-year-old just has the edge here, especially given he receives a weight-for-age allowance.

It is difficult to discount St Patricks Bridge, though, who drops in trip having been tailed off over 2m6f at Ffos Las in April.

14:40 (Thirsk) Navarre Express

Hugo Palmer’s Navarre Express looks an interesting runner in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Thirsk.

She is up against a couple of fairly useful fillies, but the selection has only had the one run to date and is open to significant improvement.

Her fifth of nine, beaten just over five lengths, may not have screamed next time out winner, but there was plenty of promise and Palmer’s runners tend to porgress markedly with experience.

The race in which she made her debut at Doncaster was pretty hot for a maiden in October, as it was won by Sea Of Roses who went on to run in the Oaks, with subsequent Musidora third Infinite Cosmos in second.

The third home has also won since, which suggests Navarre Express faced a pretty stiff task that day.

14:50 (Market Rasen) Earlofthecotswolds

Over the jumps, Earlofthecotswolds can successfully switch spheres in the Price Boosts On Football At Rhino.bet Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen.

Useful on the Flat for Nigel Twiston-Davies, he is having his first run over obstacles since Boxing Day 2021.

Grade 2 novice chase winner Hang In There who finished a creditable second on his return to hurdling at Aintree last month will challenge.

Other threats include King Alexander, who returns to handicap company following a facile win over 2m4f at Ffos Las last time out. The five-year-old shaped as though he could be tough to peg back in deeper waters, despite being 7lb above his last winning mark.

Mullinaree landed a hat-trick at Fontwell most recently and adds further spice to the race now rated 2lb higher.

15:00 (Brighton) Mashadi

Mashadi has finished runner-up on all three appearances to date and the Richard Hannon-trained colt looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to gain a breakthrough success.

Mammy should have learned plenty from her opening bid at Newmarket last month and an improved performance looks possible, but newcomer Budding Poet possesses a nice blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree and the son of Calyx may emerge as the biggest threat.

16:00 (Brighton) Glenister

Glenister is a typical Sir Mark Prescott improver, recording two quickfire successes over the last week.

He carries a 10lb penalty for those two Lingfield wins in the At The Races App Form Study Handicap at Brighton, but it will be a surprise if he is beaten.

17:00 (Brighton) Marsh Benham

The recent Chepstow winner Marsh Benham should have no problem handling this slight step down in trip and the four-year-old is hard to oppose off a 3lb higher mark.

Queen Sarabi disappointed last time but is a player based on her previous placed effort over course and distance.

The rest all have questions to answer but Lucky Mascot is arguably the pick of them.
