Gigaclear Builds FTTP Broadband to 3 More Surrey UK Villages
Abingdon-based rural ISP Gigaclear, which has already built their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 380,000 premises, have announced that the operator’s £10m network expansion in Surrey (England) is now starting to reach the villages of Gomshall and Westcott, with Wonersh to follow in 2024.
The latest expansion will benefit more than 2,400 homes across the two locations, and the first customers will be able to connect this summer. The work in Gomshall follows an initial build in Chilworth. Gigaclear says a further 2,590 homes and businesses in Wonersh are also set to be connected to full fibre broadband during spring next year.
NOTE: The Infracapital-backed ISP is investing up to £700m to reach 500,000 UK premises by the end of 2023 (they’ve already covered 380,000).
Overall, Gigaclear is currently investing up to £700 million to reach 500,000 UK premises (Ready for Service) across 23 counties by the end of 2024, or the end of 2023 if you include built but not yet RFS premises (here). On top of that, they’ve already connected 75,000 customers to their new network and rising.

Gomshall is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which presents us with several engineering challenges. Navigating through its narrow lanes will inevitably mean that there will be some traffic disruption however we are liaising closely with residents’ groups, local councils and the highways authority to minimise any disruption.
Unlike many other broadband providers who compete to offer their services in dense, urban areas, we’re focussing on harder-to-reach communities that are far less likely to have a choice of supplier.”
Residential customers of the service typically pay from £17 a month (£40 after 18-months) for a symmetric 200Mbps broadband package on an 18-month term, and this rises to £49 (£79 after 18-months) for their top 830Mbps plan. All packages include a wireless router and free installation. But they’re currently also running a special offer that gives 500Mbps for £20 per month.
