I tried the new McDonald’s Lotus Biscoff McFlurry to see if it lives up to the hype

The hugely anticipated brand new Lotus Biscoff McFlurry was released at McDonald’s restaraunt’s across the UK and Ireland today and naturally I couldn’t wait to try it out.

There has been a huge hype about the limited edition dessert online and following months of anticipation, McDonald’s fans can finally get their hands on the new menu item from today (Wednesday, June, 21.)

The fast food chain celebrated its first day of selling the exciting new flavour today and of course as a big Biscoff lover I was at the front of the queue to check it out.

The “McFlurry of dreams”, as it has been referred to by excited fans on social media, is described on the McDonald’s website as “a soft dairy ice cream swirled with caramel sauce and topped with crumbled Lotus Biscoff pieces” – sold.

I went to my local McDonald’s branch to check it out. Given the hype online I’d expected to queue, so I was quite surprised that people in Yorkshire didn’t appear to be as excited as I was about the new addition, but we move on.

For reference I feel the need to make it clear that McFlurrys in general don’t excite me quite this much. I was more of a hot caramel sundae kind of girl, which I still cannot for the life of me understand why they were discontinued, and don’t even get me started on still Fanta… But that’s a grumble for another day.

Anyway, I arrived at the eerily quiet drive through and ordered my McFlurry, I half expected them to tell me they had run out so I was delighted to hear “next window please.”

Maybe I’m easily pleased but the consistency impressed me greatly, when I’ve had McFlurrys in the past the first few mouthfuls are nice sure, but once you’re past the topping, it’s a mediocre vanilla ice-cream and that’s being kind.

A bold statement but I would even go as far as saying it was the nicest McFlurry I’ve ever had and if, like myself, you’re a Biscoff fan in general, you will undoubtedly love these – it’s impossible not to.

It’s safe to say the new limited edition Lotus Biscoff McFlurry comes highly recommended from me and I’m still debating going getting another!
