Insults fly fast and furious between Blue Jays and Bronx Bombers

When the Yankees and Blue Jays get fired up at each other and the salty language isn’t necessarily suitable for an all ages crowd.

And there was plenty of video evidence of it from Tuesday night, including Jays pitching coach Pete Walker laying into Yankees third-base coach Luis Rojas and Toronto manager John Schneider getting hot at an unidentified coach in the Yankees dugout.

“It’s two competitive teams not pleased with the way everything had shaken out over the last 24 hours,” Schneider said. “It’s people being competitive. Rojas responded the way he did and we responded the way we did.”

The insults flew throughout the game, with both Schneider and Yankees manager Aaron Boone having frequent interaction with the umpiring crew.

Schneider became a viral sensation for one exchange when he was shown waving his hand and shouting “shut up, fat boy, shut up” at an unidentified Yankees personnel.

“It’s a competitive environment,” Schneider said. “Things get said. People say things they may or may not regret.”

Walker was seen rather colourfully saying to Rojas “I’m watching you.”

Boone was asked about the umpires instructions for coaches to stay in the coaching boxes at first and third base, a source of concern from the Jays following Monday night’s debacle.

“It’s silliness. It’s ridiculousness. I hope everybody on both sides realizes it. ”
