Jurgen Klopp suffers transfer window blow as Liverpool valuation branded “unrealistic”

Liverpool have been told their valuation of Caoimhin Kelleher is ‘unrealistic’ as Brentford discuss a potential move for the Republic of Ireland shot-stopper.

The Bees are set to sign a new goalkeeper this summer with David Raya expected to depart the Gtech Community Stadium. The Spaniard has one-year left on his contract and has already rejected fresh offers from Brentford to stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal.

Tottenham and Chelsea are amongst the Premier League clubs that have been linked with a move for Raya, who could leave Brentford for around £30million. However, the Bees are aware he may go and have started searching for replacements with Kelleher on their shortlist.

But according to the Daily Mail, Brentford see Liverpool’s valuation of around £15million unrealistic for a ‘keeper that has only made four Premier League appearances. In fact, the 24-year-old has just 20 senior club appearances to his name since coming through the Reds academy and making his debut.

Kelleher could still leave Liverpool this summer in search of regular first-team football. Tottenham and Brighton are all said to be interested in the Ireland international, who has already won four major honours in his career, including the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season.

Liverpool are prepared to lose Kelleher and have identified Hannover captain Ron-Robert Zieler as a possible replacement. Zieler, 34, who has previous Premier League experience with Leicester, has impressed for Hannover in recent years and has over 400 career appearances to his name.

Zieler would come in and become the new no.2 behind Alisson Becker, who has impressed once again for the Reds and kept his third successive clean sheet against Leicester on Monday. The Brazilian didn’t have much to do on the night but made a couple of excellent saves when required, including one from Harvey Barnes in the second-half.
