King’s Lynn Stars boss after a reaction as Belle Vue Aces visit Adrian Flux Arena

Lynn Stars team boss Alex Brady will be looking for a big response from his side when they host Belle Vue in the Insure Premiership on Thursday night.

All eyes were on Lynn debutant Artem Laguta at the Adrian Flux Arena last week – but his debut was overshadowed by a heavy home defeat at the hands of Sheffield.

Lynn were poor from the starting gate for most of the night, and former Lynn rider Lewi Kerr and his Tigers team-mates took full advantage as they coasted to an easy 59-31 win.

Reflecting on the Sheffield defeat, a bitterly disappointed Brady said: “We started terribly. The track tonight was what six of the boys had asked for, the starts were grippier and it’s really disappointing from my perspective that we couldn’t make the starts.

“The track was fast and we just couldn’t make ground up. Overall it was a really, really disappointing night and I’m sorry to everyone who came because it’s not the way it should have gone.

“Sheffield had some outstanding performances and a couple of maximums which I don’t feel an away rider should ever be doing around King’s Lynn, but we weren’t good enough either, and for me personally it’s a long look in the mirror this weekend about where we go from here.

“The track was fast and we just couldn’t make ground up. Overall it was a really, really disappointing night and I’m sorry to everyone who came because it’s not the way it should have gone.”

Lynn’s team boss believes that new arrival Laguta will only get better as he adapts to the British conditions.

“Artem struggled a bit in his first one and slightly got the set-up wrong. He came on stronger as the night went on, but he’ll adjust and he’ll get better,” he said.

“I do think we saw glimpses of what he’s all about – he’s disappointed with his overall score but it wasn’t too bad a performance.

“I think a big shout to Kye for his four points. That was very encouraging and hopefully he can build on that next week.”

Tigers boss Simon Stead felt his side got their game plan spot on for their visit to the Norfolk track.

Stead said: “We’ve had a few fixtures away from home where we haven’t performed as we should have done.

“But we were dominant and back to something like what I know we’re capable of.

“There was a lot of talk about Artem and them in the build-up and look, it’s great to see him in British Speedway and fair play to King’s Lynn because they’ve pulled one out the bag there.

“But we needed to remove ourselves from that hype, get off on the front foot, come here and do the job and we’ve done just that.”
