Liverpool has three definite changes waiting next season and Jürgen Klopp should be very excited
The season is not yet over, but Liverpool’s final home game of the campaign has been completed and there is very much a feeling now that the Reds have made peace with only securing a Europa League spot.
There is no doubt that missing out on the Champions League is a disappointment. At the start of the season, Liverpool was considered the most likely challenger for Manchester City, who could yet win a treble.
By the time next season kicks off, Liverpool’s task, despite the top four being beyond them this time around, is to make sure that it is once again — in its own head at least — the most likely team to stop Manchester City’s dominance.

That is absolutely realistic with a couple of good additions in the transfer market this summer and a bit more luck on the injury front, with key man Luis Díaz having barely featured this season.
Here are the three things that Liverpool.com believes Jürgen Klopp can look forward to next season, with changes coming for the Reds and plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
New-look Anfield
By the time Liverpool plays at Anfield again, there will be around 7,000 more spectators in attendance, with the Anfield Road Stand set to be completed over the summer.
It will take the capacity to around 61,000, making Anfield the fourth-largest stadium in the Premier League, behind only Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.
Given the huge demand for tickets, how much of an impact it makes for fans who want to get into home fixtures remains to be seen, but the transformation of Anfield is clear to see.
With the Main Stand having been completed in 2016 and now this second one set to be done too, that will be one legacy that FSG leaves behind when it leaves Liverpool at some point in the future.

Summer transfers
Exactly who the players will be remains to be seen, though Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch are among the Liverpool targets for bolstering its midfield.
There is also a strong argument to sign a player at center-back as well, with Joël Matip out of contract in 2024, but whoever the names and the positions, there is no doubt that this is a big summer for Liverpool.
With no obvious assets to cash in on, investment will be needed from FSG to make sure that Liverpool can compete and get back into the Champions League at the first time of asking.
Incomings are guaranteed; the question is who those players will be and how many of them will come through the door.
Nine-game boost… and formation switch
While Liverpool’s winning run came to a disappointing end against Aston Villa, it still found a way to draw despite going behind and could easily have won had referee John Brooks interpreted the offside differently or brandished a red card for Tyrone Mings.
The last eight games — and hopefully Southampton next weekend too — have shown that Liverpool can put together a run of form, with a decent sample size that the new-look formation works.
It might not be for every game — and there is a decent argument that against Aston Villa, Trent Alexander-Arnold might have been better positioned out wide and away from congested areas — but Liverpool has found a way that looks much improved.
The form of the last eight games is more reflective of the squad that Liverpool has available, and it should only be considerably stronger after a summer transfer window and plenty of time to work on things during pre-season.
