Liverpool transfer news LIVE – Gabri Veiga talks, Moises Caicedo update, Arthur Melo surprise

Hello and welcome to your dedicated Liverpool news and transfers blog on Saturday, June 17.

The summer transfer window is underway, Liverpool have brought in their first signing in Alexis Mac Allister and the Premier League fixtures for the new season are out. However, there is more work to be done and Jurgen Klopp is looking at who to add to his squad.

Liverpool flop Arthur Melo is reportedly receiving interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United. The Brazilian failed to play a single Premier League minute for the Reds but could be given a second crack at English football.

Elsewhere, Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed Liverpool have held discussions about signing Celta Vigo prospect Gabri Veiga. Newcastle United are also linked with the Spaniard.

And there’s also an update from the agent of Moises Caicedo. The Brighton & Hove Albion is wanted by Chelsea and was the subject of a bid from Arsenal in January. Liverpool have also been linked.

Moises Caicedo agent flirts with Brighton exit

Moises Caicedo’s agent has revealed the player will “listen” to offers from other clubs this summer.

It is understood that the Brighton midfielder views his future away from the south coast despite a stellar campaign under Roberto De Zerbi. At just 21, Caicedo was instrumental in helping the Seagulls qualify for European football for the first time in their history.

Speaking to SussexWorld, the Ecuadorian’s agent, Manuel Sierra, issued a seven-word plea to clubs hoping to sign his client. When asked for an update on Caicedo’s future, he said: “Let’s see (what happens). We are open to listening (to offers).”

Fabrizio Romano provides Gabri Veiga update

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has insisted Liverpool have “had conversations” with Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

Newcastle, unsurprisingly, are another English club reportedly expressing interest in the prospect.

“This week Liverpool had some conversations with people close to Gabri Veiga,” Romano told his podcast.

“Liverpool are one of the most interested clubs in this player. We had reports of a done deal with Newcastle, that is not the case.

“Liverpool are really interested in Gabri Veiga – this is a big opportunity.”

Arthur Melo set for Premier League second chance?

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on former Liverpool forgotten man Arthur Melo, according to Spanish outlet AS.

A season-long loan on Merseyside did not go to plan, with Melo failing to make a single top-flight appearance.

Just one substitute appearance against Napoli is all reds fans got to witness of the Brazilian, who has two years remaining on his Juventus deal.

Continental reports suggest Villa or the Magpies could be set to give him a second chance in England.
