Liverpool transfer news LIVE – Ryan Gravenberch €25m fee, Khephren Thuram bid, Nicolo Barella stance

Hello and welcome to the ECHO’s dedicated Liverpool news and transfers blog on Wednesday, June 21.

After watching Jude Bellingham sign for Real Madrid this summer, Liverpool have reportedly launched a genuine attempt to snap-up Fede Valverde. Despite him being a key man for Real in recent seasons, that status could now be under threat after Bellingham joined the Uruguayan at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In their ongoing charge for midfielders, the Reds continue to be linked with Nicolo Barella, Gabri Veiga and Ryan Gravenberch, among others, after signing Argentina playmaker Alexis Mac Allister for an undisclosed fee. Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport indicate the Reds are now favourites to sign Barella from Inter Milan.

Liverpool ‘expected to make Thuram bid’

Liverpool are expected to submit a bid for OGC Nice midfielder and France international Khephren Thuram after the U-21 European Championships.

That’s according to Nice-Matin, via Get French Football News, who are reporting that Liverpool want the 22-year-old France international to strengthen their revamped midfield.

The ECHO has long reported that Thuram is now high on Liverpool’s shortlist as the club plot further midfield additions following the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.

Gravenberch ‘asking price’

Liverpool would reportedly have to pay €25m to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich this summer.

The Dutchman was viewed as one of Europe’s top prospects when he arrived at the Allianz Arena last summer. Bayern fought off interest from Real Madrid and several Premier League clubs to sign him for around £20m.

Gravenberch is on the Reds’ shortlist of targets, the ECHO understands, though a sticking point is likely to be Bayern’s reluctance to part ways with the Dutchman.

But according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the midfielder’s price is €25M, and as well as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are also interested.

Barella transfer claims

Newcastle United are reportedly currently £30 million off Internazionale’s valuation of Nicolo Barella.

That’s according to the Independent, who are reporting that Newcastle may turn to AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali – although negotiations are ongoing over Barella.

The report goes on to claim that Liverpool have been similarly interested in Barella, but they nevertheless believe the price is currently far too high.
