Liverpool urged to raid Villa for left-field Bellingham alternative as move for former player is ruled out

Liverpool urged to raid Villa for left-field Bellingham alternative as move for former player is ruled out

Liverpool have been encouraged to sign Aston Villa standout Jacob Ramsey as the midfielder would be a “great fit” for the Premier League giants.

The Aston Villa star is one midfielder who has not yet been linked with a move to Liverpool ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The Reds are in the market for two or three midfielders, with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea’s Mason Mount among their preferred targets.

Ramsey has emerged as a key player for Villa. He has grabbed five goals and five assists for Unai Emery’s side in the Premier League this season.

The 21-year-old has proven himself to be a versatile player for the Villans, with him being more than capable of shining on the left flank and through the middle.

Speaking last year, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claimed Ramsey is close to being ready for the Champions League.

Now Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has recommended him to Liverpool as he is “a player of a similar ilk to Jude Bellingham”.

“Personally, I think he would be a great fit for someone like Liverpool because of his energy in midfield,” Taylor told Give Me Sport.

“I would say, lightly, he is a player of a similar ilk to Jude Bellingham. Bellingham is a powerhouse and when you watch him play, he plays with authority and grabs games by the scruff of the neck.

“I don’t think Ramsey will grab games by the scruff of the neck, but I think he has that sort of energy from midfield, arrives in the box and scores goals.”

Liverpool could also look to strengthen in defence this summer but they will not need to increase their options in attacking areas. They are spoilt for choice in that department with the likes of Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo to choose from.

Sadio Mane left the club last summer to join Bayern Munich and he has endured a nightmare debut season for the Bundesliga giants.

The Senegal international recently had a fight with Leroy Sane and it is being reported that Bayern Munich are willing to let him leave this summer.

Football Insider are now reporting that Liverpool ‘have no plans to bring Mane back to the club amid suggestions that his unhappy stint at Bayern Munich’. The report adds.

‘Liverpool’s recruitment staff have no interest in bringing the winger back to the club this summer.

‘They consider the Reds’ attack to be well-stocked in attack following the additions of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo across the last two transfer windows.

‘And the focus for the upcoming summer will instead be on rebuilding a midfield that has fallen well short of its usual standards across this season.’
