Liverpool’s ‘smallest pub’ to reopen with new owners this week

Liverpool’s ‘smallest pub’ will reopen tomorrow under new owners.

The father and son behind micropub Cask on Queens Drive in Stoneycroft will open Cask Coach House on Maryland Street on Friday (May 26). Eric and Patrick Mills acquired the pub earlier this year, having looked for a second establishment for some time.

Previously known as Hard Times & Misery, The Coach House has a capacity of just 35 people and is unofficially classed as the city’s smallest pub. Eric and Patrick have worked to revamp the pub and put their own stamp on it.

In April, Patrick told the ECHO: “We stumbled across The Coach House, which the lads from Angus on Dale Street had. It didn’t fit in with their business plan moving forward and their way of operating.

“It is unofficially recognised as Liverpool’s smallest public house. We hope we could get that as an official title or have a look at measuring up.”

He added: “With our pricing structure, we’ll move that exact same one over to the city centre site. Just because we’re in the city centre, we’re not going to try to exploit that fact.
