London named ‘hardest place to get Gregg’s sausage roll’ as only enough made in bakeries for ‘one a month’ per person

The capital has been announced at the hardest spot to secure a Gregg’s sausage roll for one very bizarre reason. It turns out that the famous baker only makes enough for ‘one a month’ per person.

This is according to an interactive map generated by The Mirror. However the exception is the City of London, which has a higher treat-to-person ratio as so few people live there.

Newcastle is the ‘sausage roll capital of the UK, according to Greggs’. And it’s no wonder then that the popular chain bakery created a party space for Geordie Sam Fender’s concert last week A total of 2,199 Greggs outlets are spread across the UK, from Lands End to John O Groats, and over the sea to Northern Ireland.

Of every local authority area in the nation, there are more Greggs outlets in Glasgow than anywhere else (54), followed by Birmingham (49), and then Leeds (43).

But comparing the number of Greggs sausage rolls served up to communities living nearby presents a very different picture.

Greggs says its stores produce a daily average of 1,500 sausage rolls or about 545,000 in a year.
