Luton Town have confirmed they will immediately issue a stadium ban for a fan who appeared to hit out at Amad.

The Hatters booked their place in the Championship play-off final on Tuesday night after they overturned a first-leg deficit to knock out Sunderland. The Black Cats took a 2-1 lead to Kenilworth Road, but lost 2-0 on the night to end their season.

The defeat also marked the final game of Amad’s impressive spell Wearside. The winger, who signed for United in a deal worth £37.5 million, has flourished under Tony Mowabray in his first full season of senior football.

Amad, 20, scored a rocket in the first leg but was unable to will his side back into the tie away from home. And his night was made even more challenging after being confronted by a fan in the home stands.

Whilst attempting to retrieve the ball to take a throw-in, Sky Sports captured the moment a supporter leant forward and made contact with his back. Amad gestured towards the referee, before the match resumed.

However, Luton have now confirmed they will take action against the individual, with the police also opening an investigation. A club statement reads: “Luton Town is aware of an incident involving a home spectator and a Sunderland player during last night’s Championship play-off semi-final at Kenilworth Road.

“A lengthy Club ban will be immediately issued and the incident is now also subject to a police investigation.
