If I were a betting man, I, like many others, would have put a wager on Harry Isted joining Barnsley.

The 26-year-old keeper, released by Luton Town at the end of the season, performed wonders between the sticks for The Tykes after joining the South Yorkshire side, on loan, in January.

Indeed, his wonderful performance in the League One Play-Off Final, against Sheffield Wednesday, almost saw his side reach the Championship, thereby enhancing his chances, so I thought, of a permanent move to Oakwell.

But, as we’re always saying when it comes to football, never assume anything.

Yesterday, (Saturday), it was confirmed, by the BBC, that Isted had put pen-to-paper on a two year deal with another League One side, Charlton Athletic.

Naturally, the Charlton gaffer, Dean Holden was delighted with his out-of-contract signing, being quoted by our source, the BBC, as remarking:

“I’m really pleased to bring Harry in – he’s an excellent all-round goalkeeper.

“He was very impressive at Barnsley last season, culminating in that eye-catching performance at Wembley.”

Many Luton Town fans, including myself, will feel that Harry, who only made 3 appearances for the Hatters, was never really given the chance he deserved at Kenilworth Road, nevertheless, here at Vital Luton Town, I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Harry every success as he continues his career with Charlton Athletic.
