Manchester United Have Targeted Bart Verbruggen, Who Is The Subject Of A Burnley Offer ⋆ Somag News

The mystery of Manchester United’s goalkeepers was in the spotlight last week as the club has yet to sign David de Gea.

Provided that this deal is agreed by both parties, Dean Henderson seems ready to complete a permanent move to Nottingham Forest in a deal that could be worth around 25 million pounds.

With De Gea’s recent mistakes and generally poor distribution over the course of the season, the possibility of replacing the Spaniard as the club’s undisputed number one was discussed.

According to The People Person, Porto’s current financial situation could lead to a deal for Diogo Costa becoming a real possibility if United goes down this path.

But with a number of positions in need of immediate strengthening, signing a tent between the sticks seems somewhat unlikely.

Instead, it would be possible to attract a developing goalkeeper who would alternate with the winner of the Golden Glove and eventually replace him.

Bart Verbruggen has been linked with a move to Old Trafford to fill just that role, and the 20-year-old has made an impression in his breakthrough season at Anderlecht.

The Dutchman has obvious potential and can become an active goalkeeper, which United have lacked in the last decade.

But, according to journalist Alan Nixon (via Inside Futbol), Burnley beat the Red Devils by offering 13 million pounds. Former Anderlecht boss Vincent Kompany believes he can convince Ferbruggen of the benefits of moving to a new team, given their past.

It is also known that a player does not dare to move to the top team of the Premier League, realizing that he needs regular football in the first team to improve his abilities and position in the game.

But since Ten Haag recently admitted that De Gea won’t always be his first choice, Verbruggen will have plenty of opportunities to play and impress if United make an offer.

Manchester United played 62 games in all competitions last season and are expecting another busy schedule in their next campaign as they look to compete again on multiple fronts.

With that in mind, Ten Hag could have succeeded in luring Verbruggen to the club. If he did, waiting for Burnley to open the bidding would be a reasonable move.

Last summer, Tyrell Malasia was signed for around 17 million pounds, and United attacked him just before Olympique Lyonnais completed a deal for the left-back.

At the same time, the Red Devils avoided paying the “tax” that often entails their own entry into a trade war, and helped the club quickly conclude a profitable deal.

Although the goalkeeper’s position at Old Trafford remains uncertain, there is no doubt that Eric ten Haag will consider any opportunity available to him as he hopes to re-equip his team so that it can comfortably play his preferred style of football.
