Manchester United transfer news RECAP Man Utd takeover latest as Victor Osimhen ‘battle’ begins

Manchester United are waiting for a breakthrough in the transfer market as negotiations for Mason Mount continue to drag on. The club have seen three bids rejected by Chelsea, who want to find a resolution.

Mount is out of contract next summer and United are reluctant to push their offers much higher. Chelsea know Mount wants to go and therefore need to find a solution as they bid to solve their Financial Fair Play issues.

Reports on Saturday night suggest the two clubs have reached an ‘impasse’ and United could therefore look at alternative targets. Moises Caicedo has been linked as a possible option though Brighton & Hove Albion will not let him leave cheaply.

Bayern Munich have now been linked with a move Mount. He worked with Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge and the German club could make a play for his signature.

Plus, David de Gea is yet to sign a new contract and the goalkeeper potentially leaving the club, a new shot-stopper will also be needed. Inter star Andre Onana is the latest name in the frame there having worked with Erik ten Hag previously.

United ‘make contact’ with Rabiot regarding potential move

Manchester United have ‘made contract’ with Adrien Rabiot’s representatives over a potential transfer, reports The Athletic.

United were interested in signing Rabiot last summer and had agreed a fee with Juventus before the player’s wage demands scuppered the deal. Now the Frenchman will soon be available on a free upon the expiration of his contract.

United fans hijack Sheikh Jassim post amid takeover saga

Manchester United fans have hijacked an Instagram post of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani with his family amid the ongoing takeover saga.

In November, the Glazer family announced they were looking for further investment opportunities in United which included the possibility of selling the club entirely. After a long and sometimes drawn-out process, two frontrunners have emerged to buy the Reds.

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is wanting to purchase 60 per cent of the club which would open the door to the Glazers potentially remaining as minority owners. Sheikh Jassim is also in the race and is thought to be in pole position with his offer to buy 100 per cent of United.

Here’s what they said.

Aitch leaks Manchester United 2023/24 home shirt during Glastonbury performance

Manchester United fans appear to have been given a glimpse of the club’s 2023/24 home shirt after rapper Aitch performed his Glastonbury set in it on Saturday.

The club have teased an official release date of June 27 on their social media channels in recent weeks. However, on Saturday, Manchester-born artist and United fan Aitch – full name Harrison James Armstrong – gave those at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and millions watching a full preview, with the shirt he donned matching that of the pattern shown in United’s teaser videos.

Caicedo has already revealed his dream club amid Manchester United transfer interest

Manchester United could look past Mason Mount this summer and comments from Moises Caicedo suggest he would be open to an Old Trafford move.

United have been pursuing Mount for several weeks and have seen three bids – the latest of which was worth up to £55million – rejected by Chelsea. Those in charge at Stamford Bridge are holding out for £65million, despite the midfielder entering the final 12 months of his contract.

United are willing to move on from Mount should talks show no signs of progessing, with Erik ten Hag keen to resolve his midfield issues quickly and focus on other problem areas. A shortlist of alternative targets has already been compiled, with Brighton’s Caicedo of interest.

United have at least five sellable assets in their core squad

Those on the Old Trafford tour next weekend will have to keep their eyes peeled for any names removed from the home dressing room. Jack Butland’s berth was appropriately located next to one of the exit routes.

Marcel Sabitzer’s name had been removed when members of the press occupied it for a match against club media last month. Wout Weghorst’s was still on display and Danny Webber, our ‘ringer’ up front, scored more Old Trafford goals in a half than the Dutchman managed in 15 appearances at the stadium.

Weghorst’s name will be taken down next week. So might David de Gea’s. De Gea is the only United player approaching the end of his contract who could be considered a member of the core squad.

Keane has already given his verdict on United’s pursuit of Mason Mount

There are several reasons why Erik ten Hag is so eager to wrap up the signing of Mason Mount.

The Dutchman is keen to get on with his other Manchester United transfer plans ahead of time with a striker and a goalkeeper on the mind. But he also knows that if United dawdle then other sharks will try to nab the fish on the end of his line.

Mount is keen to join United, having agreed personal terms but United are finding Todd Boehly a tougher nut to crack and have had their third bid for Mount rejected.

The Reds have tabled a package worth in the region of £55m, but are hesitant about offering any more with just 12 months left on his deal.

Here’s what he said.

REPORT- Former United target surprised by lack of interest in him

According to GiveMeSport, Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is surprised more teams are not interested in him this summer.

Journalist Dean Jones said:

I’m told the player himself is quite surprised there hasn’t been more fuss over the fact he could move. This is a player that would upgrade pretty much any squad. And, more than that, he would make most starting line-ups better.

United were interested in Rabiot last summer but negotiations broke down as the Reds ended up signing Casemiro instead.

Caicedo has already revealed his dream club

Caicedo has already made it clear who he wishes to play for in the future and it is good news for the Reds.

Speaking in 2020, he said:

My dream is to play for Manchester United. Antonio Valencia is an example to follow. With his strength and dedication, he was able to get to that level.

ANALYSIS – United need to do what they did with Casemiro in Mount saga

If there is one positive to take from Manchester United’s prolonged pursuit of Mason Mount, it is that they are learning from the mistakes of last summer.

United spent 100 days infatuated with a move for Frenkie de Jong a year ago before marking their century with the signing of Casemiro instead.

The situation with Mount is different but shares enough similarities. Instead of it being the player who doesn’t want to join, this time the sticking point is with the club instead.

According to The Guardian, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will be stepping up their interest in Mason Mount.

Pulisic makes transfer demand after United admission

Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has admitted he wishes to leave Stamford Bridge six years after claiming his love for United.

[This summer transfer window] is absolutely a time where I need to figure out what’s best for my future, somewhere I can go and play and be trusted and feel good in what I’m doing. I want to find that joy at a club level again.

Lisandro Martinez provides important injury update

Lisandro Martinez has provided a positive injury update by posting videos of him training on social media.

Martinez has been sidelined since suffering a broken metatarsal in the 2-2 Europa League quarter-final draw at home to Sevilla in February. He underwent surgery shortly after, with the hope that he would be ready in time for the new campaign.

Erik ten Hag said at the end of May that he hoped to have the Argentinian back at Carrington imminently and available for the start of pre-season. Now, Martinez has posted an important update on his Instagram story.

The defender was videoed running and dribbling with the ball at his feet, which is the first time he’s shown this online. He then later tweeted: So happy to be back 100%,” with two emojis.

United ‘prepare’ Moises Caicedo bid

United are preparing an offer to sign Moises Caicedo.

It is suggested that Caicedo is the new top target and the club are preparing an opening bid for him.

United consider Garnacho shirt number change

United are considering making Alejandro Garnacho their new number seven as his stratospheric rise continues.

Garnacho, 18, only made his first-team debut against Chelsea in April last year but he has already established himself as one of United’s most captivating forwards.

The No.7 was vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo in November when he forced his departure and Garnacho, who currently dons the number 49, signed a five-year contract in April.

Garnacho would become the first teenage recipient of the No.7 since Ronaldo in 2003.

Ten Hag to put United squad through ‘hell week’ boot camp ahead of new season

Erik ten Hag will reportedly put his United players through a week of ‘hell’ at the start of pre-season.

The Sun says the United manager plans four days of double sessions, and there will be an even greater emphasis on building stamina across his squad.

Carrington staff are already checking in with players and referring to it as ‘Hell Week’ — a term more commonly used to describe SAS selection camps.

Leeds ‘target’ Amad loan move

Leeds could reportedly look to sign Amad on loan this summer.

The Mirror says United’s fierce rivals are keen on a temporary deal as they look for an immediate return to the Premier League next season.

Tuchel ‘asks’ Bayern to bid for United target De Jong

United want to sign another top midfielder this summer, and Frenkie de Jong could be on the move.

Foot Mercato says Thomas Tuchel has asked Bayern Munich to bid for the Barcelona star after pulling out of the race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.

United are long-term admirers of De Jong and could entertain another bid themselves if he is made available for transfer.

United ‘switch focus’ to other targets after Mount pursuit

United are switching their attention to other midfield targets after making little progress in their pursuit of Mason Mount.

The Times says United will now consider other options, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo top of their list.

Brighton are believed to value Caicedo at about £80 million, much more than Chelsea are demanding for Mount, but United are reportedly prepared to take that into account given his younger age and radically different contract situation.

United unhappy with Chelsea over Mason Mount situation

United are unhappy with Chelsea as negotiations over a possible transfer of Mason Mount continue.

Football director John Murtough is understood to have taken a dim view of Chelsea’s strategy of communicating United’s bids through the club’s dedicated correspondents in London.

Chelsea have rejected three offers from United of upfront fees with add-ons worth in the region of £40million, £50m and £55m. Chelsea are holding out for an overall fee of £65m.

United have five sellable assets

Those on the Old Trafford tour next weekend will have to keep their eyes peeled for any names removed from the home dressing room. Jack Butland’s berth was appropriately located next to one of the exit routes.

Marcel Sabitzer’s name had been removed when members of the press occupied it for a match against club media last month. Weghorst’s name will be taken down next week. So might David de Gea’s. De Gea is the only United player approaching the end of his contract who could be considered a member of the core squad.

It is that unofficial status that is discouraging United from proactively pushing others towards the departures’ lounge. For most of the last year, United have endeavoured to extend De Gea’s 12 years at the club and only recently has there been a shift that could ensure he is known as a former United player from next Saturday.

Mount alternatives

Manchester United are at a crucial stage of negotiations with Chelsea over top midfielder target Mason Mount.

United’s third offer for the Englishman has been knocked back by the Blues despite Mount having one year left on his contract. The club offered £55m with Chelsea hoping for an additional £10m.

Mount wants to leave and Chelsea know that. MEN Sport understands that Technical Director John Murtough’s “hands are tied” due to United’s finances. Erik ten Hag also needs a new striker to bolster his squad this summer.

Reports have suggested United could be looking elsewhere after this latest knockback from Chelsea. It has been stressed that although the 24-year-old is their primary target, Ten Hag has other options in mind.

Mason Mount ‘impasse’

Manchester United are looking at other targets such as Moises Caicedo after reaching an impasse with Chelsea over Mason Mount, The Times report.

United bid £55m which was rejected by Chelsea, who want 65m despite Mount having one year left on his deal. United have little wiggle room with their budget and are reluctant to bid higher.

As a result, the report states that they are looking at the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, who would cost significantly more than Mount.

Bayern Munich want Mount

Bayern Munich want to hijack Manchester United’s bid for Mason Mount, report The Guardian. United have had three bids knocked back.

Mount is admired by Thomas Tuchel having worked together at Stamford Bridge. With United struggling to find an agreement, the article states Bayern see Mount as a potential option in their rebuild.
