City eye 14-year-old

Man City hope to sign 14-year-old keeper Toby Bell — the latest youngster on Sunderland’s amazing production line.

City are eyeing the England youth prospect and are prepared to pay compensation that will go up if he makes the grade.

Schoolkid Bell comes from the same ranks that discovered England’s No 1 Jordan Pickford and the current Black Cats keeper Anthony Patterson.

Meanwhile, Sunderland centre-half Bailey Wright could be set for a permanent move from Wearside to Rotherham.

Millers had the Australian international, 30, on loan for the second half of last season — and boss Matt Taylor would like him to return despite injuries limiting him to just eight appearances.

Sunderland have Wright under contract for another year so it will take a bit of negotiating to find a solution.

England tempting Cannon

England are trying to tempt Everton striker Tom Cannon into picking them over Republic of Ireland.

Cannon, 20, is tipped to be half of a devastating Irish double act alongside Brighton’s Evan Ferguson for the next decade.

But FA chiefs contacted the Liverpool-born ace offering him a chance to play for Three Lions U21s next season.

Cannon, whose family are Irish, has already played for the Republic at that level and was tipped to be in Stephen Kenny’s squad for their upcoming Euro qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar.

But the forward — who joined Preston on loan in January — was forced out of a training camp with a virus, keeping the door open for England.

Jack Grealish and Declan Rice both opted to go with the Three Lions ahead of Ireland but Cannon will want time to make his choice as he cannot swap allegiances twice.

Tielemans joins Villa

Aston Villa have announced the singing of Youri Tielemans on a free transfer.

The Belgium international will join their Midlands rivals on July 1.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the midfielder, who has joined Unai Emery’s side instead.

Hatton in Istanbul

Ricky Hatton basked in the Istanbul sunshine ahead of tonight’s Champions League final.

The Hitman is one of thousands of City fans that have headed to Turkey to cheer on their beloved team.

Hatton, 48, grinned as he flexed his bicep with his top off for a snap.

In front of the British boxing legend and his pals was a table full of beers.

The former light-welterweight king donned sunglasses and a retro City top for other merry snaps alongside fellow fans.

Asked for a prediction by ITV News earlier this week, Hatton was confident that his side will get it done, saying: “I’m going with City aren’t I?

“I think this team is a very special team, they are just blitzing everybody.

“When United won it, they won it comfortable but not in the manner that we are winning things.”

“I think doing the treble would mean the world to Manchester City fans. I think this is the best team City have had.

“We’ve still got a lot of catching up to do with United, but the treble is still one they’ve got on us.”
