Met Office predictions on how long warm weather will last

Temperatures are set to soar this weekend as the Met Office predicts more warm weather is on the way.

After months of unsettled weather, the spring sunshine has finally arrived and is looking to stay, at least for a short while. The ECHO previously reported that parts of the UK could bake in temperatures of up to 30°C in just over a week.

And while Liverpool may not quite enjoy temperatures that high, it’s still set to be a warm weekend. And the warm weather is likely to stay into next week.

Saturday saw blue skies and sunshine as temperatures reached as high as 20°C as thousands of people arrived at the Pier Head for the Battle of the Atlantic 80th anniversary. The Met Office predicts that Sunday will also see temperatures close to 20°C, in the high teens.

Despite a slightly cloudy day on Monday, the forecast is still going to be 18°C, before the sun returns on Tuesday when temperatures will rise to around 21°C in parts of Liverpool. And as the week goes on, temperatures will reach as high as 22°C.

Here is the Met Office forecast for the week:

Sunday:

Another dry and bright day for most with spells of sunshine. Feeling a little cooler compared to on Saturday but still pleasantly warm in the sunshine. Turning breezier later. Maximum temperature 20°C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

High pressure will keep it fine and settled. Some cloud is possible at times, but plenty of sunshine is expected. Feeling warm by day but often fairly cool by night.

Outlook into June:

Looking further ahead to the start of June, the Met Office predicts the return of some unsettled weather as some areas could expect some rain and light showers, however “most places are likely to be dry with sunny periods.” The Met Office predicts: “Temperatures will likely be above average for most, but locally cool near coasts, especially in the east.”

Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Steven Keates, previously said: “Next week is half term week for much of the country and there is as strong signal the high-pressure will continue to dominate our weather. Its exact position over the UK will dictate the temperature, wind direction and weather patterns, however, indications are that the dry, bright weather is likely to continue for most with little in the way of rain throughout next week.”
