Nine stunning holiday cottages and holiday parks in Wales you can still book for half term

With the weather warm and sun shining, it’s been a glorious week for families to spend time together amid the May half term break. With primary schools, comprehensives and colleges across Wales closed for the week, thousands of us have flocked to local beaches, parks and valleys for day-trips, swims and hikes with our loved ones, whilst hundreds of families have rented caravans, motorhomes and cottages for well-deserved trips away.

If you’ve been looking at the weather and wishing you’d booked a stay somewhere, I have some good news: there’s still several gorgeous cottages and bustling holiday parks with spaces for families to come and visit for the rest of the week and into the weekend.

Here’s our round-up of nine of our favourite holiday cottages and holiday parks in Wales that you can still book for this Half Term. All prices and availability correct at the time of writing.

Bethel Villa Lodge, near Llandovery, Brecon Beacons

This cosy cabin in Llandovery, Brecon Beacons is the perfect retreat for a couple looking for a romantic getaway, with or without their dogs! With a gorgeous garden and awesome firepit, guests staying here can re-ignite the spark in their relationship and spend some quality time together surrounded by gorgeous views.

The Bethel Villa Lodge is located around four miles from Llandovery, a colourful town full of independent shops and restaurants. Or you could drive on to Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales’ smallest town, renowned locally for its quirky events including the Bog Snorkelling Championships, Real Ale Rambles and Man vs Horse race.

Brynowen Holiday Park, Borth, Ceredigion

This Parkdean holiday park is located on a hillside and offers stunning views across Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains. It’s well-located for day trips exploring the Welsh countryside and nearby beaches or, if you want to stay local, the park offers a large indoor pool with flume, an adventure playground, multi-sports court and soft play area.

In terms of eating and drinking, you have several places to choose between at Brynowen including an on-site bar and restaurant, a take-away outlet, a Costa Coffee shop and a good-sized entertainment venue.

Green Grove Barn, near Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire

This gorgeous reverse-level barn conversion has incredible views of the Carmarthenshire countryside and is ideal for two couples or a family to spend time together relaxing and exploring the local area, with Carmarthen town, the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and the Carmarthenshire County Museum all just a short drive away.

The property’s living areas and one double-bedroom are located on the ground-floor, with another elegant double room upstairs. The kitchen-diner is well-equipped whilst the sitting area has stunning floor-to-ceiling windows and a Juliet balcony, so guests can really soak in the stunning views.

The Green Grove Barn also has its own private courtyard, a great place to spend a relaxing few evenings enjoying a barbeque or watching the stars above you. The popular property has some availability in June, including for the weekend of Friday, June 2 to Monday, June 5, currently priced at £464, down from £702 previously.

Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd

This family-friendly holiday park in north Wales is one of Haven’s biggest and is packed full of activities for people of all ages. Alongside a swimming pool with bubble pool, lazy river and water slides, the park also offers a range of outdoor activities including archery, fencing and bungee trampolines and there’s also a range of activities designed specifically for toddlers, as well as a bar hosting evening entertainment suitable for the whole family.

The park itself is located near Pwllheli beach and couples and families can choose to stay in an apartment, caravan or lodge.

Hafan y Môr still has some availability for this Half Term. For a three-night stay (from Friday, June 2), you’re looking at paying around £295 for a two-bedroom caravan on a ‘Haven Hideaway’ holiday or £355 for a two-bedroom caravan on a ‘Haven’ booking. Llanrhidian Holiday Park, Gower, Swansea

Set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Llanrhidian Holiday Park offers the perfect base for families to explore the gorgeous Gower region. Dubbed a “quiet and relaxing park,” Llanrhidian is the place to go if you and your family want to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of home and just spend time together and chill out.

On the park, owned and operated by John Fowler Holidays, you’ll find a pub-restaurant, a play area, five-a-side football pitch, table tennis and an outdoor heated pool. This park does not offer an awful lot of entertainment, but may have some “light entertainment” available during the Half Term break.

The Loft At Minnis, Narbeth, Pembrokeshire

This sweet cottage is located on the owner’s smallholding and is surrounded by the gorgeous woodlands and fields of rural Narbeth, west Wales. The property is ideal for a couple’s romantic getaway and is in a great location for exploring the Pembrokeshire coast, with several beaches within easy reach.

But with the nearest pub around two miles away in the hamlet of Cresswell Quay, this holiday cottage is best-suited to those who want to relax and recuperate away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town or city.

Presthaven Holiday Park, Prestatyn, Denbighshire

This welcoming dog-friendly Haven holiday park in the seaside town of Prestatyn in Denbighshire, North Wales offers direct access to a five-mile gorgeous, sandy beach. And on the park you’ll find a heated indoor pool and an outdoor Lazy River, as well as an Aerial Adventure assault course, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall, adventure golf course and a “jump tower”. There’s also a soft play area, a ‘SportsDrome,’ an outdoor play area, a pub and a bar offering evening entertainment.

Rexton House, Llantwit Major

Fancy a bit of luxury? The stunning Rexton House country cottage in Llantwit Major boasts a decadent yet welcoming open-plan living area with fully-equipped kitchen, gorgeous dining area and relaxing seating area and is located just a short distance from several gorgeous, sandy beaches.

The property can sleep up to five people and has a lovely, enclosed courtyard garden to relax in – making it a glorious place to visit to escape the hustle and bustle of busy family life at home.

Rexton House currently has availability for a three-night stay from Wednesday, May 31 for £910, which works out at £182 each if there’s five of you staying there.

Trecco Bay Holiday Park, Porthcawl, Bridgend

Renowned locally for its wide range of family-friendly activities and great entertainment, Parkdean’s Trecco Bay Holiday Park at Trecco Bay, Porthcawl has something for everyone.

The large holiday park has a huge entertainment venue with bar and also boasts a good-sized swimming pool, an outdoor wet play area, another play area, several arcade areas, as well as a gaming arena and an arts and crafts den to keep little ones entertained. There’s also outdoor activities like a high ropes course – and you’ll be spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink as there’s a bar-restaurant, an Indian restaurant, a Burger King outlet, a Thunderbird Chicken outlet, a Papa Johns pizzeria, a coffee shop and a surf bar.


There’s still some caravans available for this weekend, Friday June 2 for three nights. Stays in a two-bedroom caravan for the weekend start at £339 and can be booked online here.
