Our Liverpool: Dad of three ‘left his mark’ despite struggle

A family have paid tribute to an “amazing” dad-of-three who could light up rooms “with the way he was.” James Bleasdale struggled with mental health from a young age and took his own life in August last year.
His partner Lauren Sweeney spoke about how the dad “left his mark” on the lives of those around him. She said: “His whole persona could make you laugh,” adding “You couldn’t fault him as a dad or a person.”

Lauren now wants to raise awareness of mental health, and has organised a family fun day to raise funds for James’ Place and Gambling with Minds.
‘Bankrupt’ landlord ran pub where you could buy a pint with vegetables
A landlord facing bankruptcy owned a pub where you could pay for your pint with carrots or by doing an hour of gardening. Christopher Hannon was banned from being a director of any business for five years after running 12 businesses under prohibited names.
It was previously reported how Hannon and his firm Coastal and Country Inns took over the Hare and Hounds pub in the Lake District, which featured a barter board with pints able to be bought in return for labour in the garden or for local produce such as winter greens, potatoes or carrots.

Head wrongfully sacked after hiring teacher who messaged 15-year-old on Facebook
A headteacher of a Kirkby primary school who was sacked after emplopying a music teacher who had been disciplined for “serious, sexually motivated conduct” towards a girl, 15, was unfairly and wrongly dismissed. An employment judge criticised the “flawed” investigation of Jason Hollywood’s handling of the matter by governors of the Norhtwood Community Primary School in Kirkby and ruled other sanctions should have been considered first.
