‘Out of control’ Cornwall nuisance woke up in cells and didn’t know what he’d done

An “out of control” nuisance who has for months been on a rampage made up of thefts and violence is finally out of chances. Freddie Clow, 24, is a name familiar to CornwallLive readers after he was given chance after chance by the court.

However, despite such an understanding and compassionate approach to Clow’s drug addiction and associated criminality, Judge Robert Linford finally ran out of patience and options and handed Clow an immediate prison sentence for his latest series of offending, some of which Clow doesn’t even remember.

Clow, formerly of Penzance but most recently of temporary accommodation in the Camborne area, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence having pleaded guilty to six thefts, two assaults, assault by beating, criminal damage, breaching a suspended sentence and failing to attend Probation Service appointments.

Prosecuting the case, Ed Bailey ran though all the offending which took place in March and April of this year. The thefts included hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol and food from various stores on a number of occasions.

Moving onto the episode of violence, Mr Bailey described how it took place on April 7 at the Coastline Housing supported accommodation in Pool. At 12:45pm a member of staff was in the process of leaving the building when Clow was outside “making a nuisance of himself”.

He was so drunk he couldn’t stand up and collapsed several times. After the member of staff asked if Clow was ok he swung his arm towards her, making contact. Clow then ran over towards a slow moving bus that stopped at the lights. He banged on the door so the driver stopped and spoke to Clow telling him to go away.
