Port Vale secure first signing of the summer as Sang signs on

Tom Sang has become Port Vale’s first signing of the summer.

The 23-year-old former Manchester United youth player will link up with Andy Crosby’s side following the expiry of his contract at Championship outfit Cardiff City.

Sang, pictured, has agreed a two-year deal with The Valiants from July 1, subject to EFL and FA approval.

The versatile midfielder, who can also play in defence, made his Football League debut for Cheltenham Town in October 2020 before going on to make his Championship debut for The Bluebirds in March 2021 prior to spending the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Scottish Premiership outfit St Johnstone.

Talking about the first summer signing, Vale’s director of football, David Flitcroft told the club: “We have been chasing Tom’s signature since we knew we had secured our League One position and we are delighted he has agreed to join us.

“Physically and athletically, we believe that Tom is at Championship levels and he will add a different dimension to our midfield.

“We met at the start of the summer period; his honesty, hunger and desire to improve so he can reach the highest level possible was what stood out. His character and commitment will drive the players on the pitch and on the training ground.

“We are excited to bring Tom into the environment that is being created at the club and I believe he will flourish under Andy’s leadership and coaching team.”
