Roberto Firmino’s mum breaks down in tears at chant Liverpool fans made up about her son
Roberto Firmino’s mother was movingly reduced to tears after seeing footage from four years ago of Liverpool supporters proudly signing a chant in honour of her son
Roberto Firmino’s mum struggled to hold back the tears upon hearing Liverpool’s fans’ belt out a song dedicated to her son.
The Anfield faithful were often heard proudly chanting ‘Si Senor’ in full voice whenever Firmino was on the pitch and that was no different for games on the road. It could certainly be heard ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League final triumph over Tottenham back in 2019, which took place at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.
Liverpool FC events group ‘Boss Night’ tweeted out a clip of the fans chanting in honour of the Brazilian, which was then shown to Firmino’s mother Mariana. The tears soon flowed as she was overcome with emotion at the footage from 2019.
”They’re singing a son with my son’s name. It’s beautiful to hear it and when we’re there, Marcella,” she cried, as she watched alongside his sister.
”I don’t know how to thank you for the love, and for everything everyone has done. It leaves me speechless. Thank you all so much for this,” she adds.
Firmino himself was spotted in tears at the end of his final Liverpool outing after the last game of the season as it was common knowledge by that point he would leave this summer.

It hardly served as a shock, with the player warning before the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa he expected to cry come full-time.
“After the game, I will cry 100%,” he said. “It’s a special day for me. It will be emotional for me and for my family.”
The day after, at a party held in Firmino’s honour, boss Jurgen Klopp heaped lavish praise on the forward as he added: “You are so football smart, in training sessions you are the first to get [understand] the exercise. It’s like you saw it once: ‘Ah, okay, go for it’.
“It’s really special and it makes you the player you are, with all the technical stuff, but your football brain is incredible. That’s all good and makes you the player you are.”
For all of Klopp’s praise, no club has come in and swooped Firmino up on a free just yet, though that is not to say there has been a shortage of offers.
Major forces from all across the continent have been linked with a move for the Brazilian, including the likes of Barcelona, Fenerbahce and AC Milan.
Firmino appears to be biding his time before making a decision on next step, but remaining in Europe seems to be the priority for the Anfield icon.
