Ryan Kent waves goodbye to Rangers fans amid Sheffield United links

Glasgow Rangers forward Ryan Kent waved goodbye to Ibrox last night as he prepares to take the next step in his career.

The former Liverpool man is set to depart Rangers this summer. His contract has wound down and Kent will now have the pick of a number of clubs this summer.

One of those clubs is Sheffield United. The Blades are believed to be among a cluster of teams looking to bring Kent in on a free transfer this summer.

And last night, Kent confirmed his departure from Rangers by being one of five players to get a guard of honour onto the pitch before waving off the Gers fans.

Blades linked with Ryan Kent

According to reports from TeamTalk recently, Kent is one of Sheffield United’s transfer targets for the summer.

The Blades are reportedly looking at the free-agent market and loans as they look to carefully plot their way through another Premier League season with limited funds.

Kent, 26, is also being linked with other Premier League clubs, including Leeds and Burnley. Rangers had initially paid £7.5m to sign Kent back in 2019.

A successful enough four years has yielded more than 200 appearances more than 30 goals. Kent also won the SPFL title and was part of the side that made it all the way to the Europa League final.

Kent is believed to be closest to signing for Turkish giants Fenerbahce. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, meaning Paul Heckingbottom could still have time to make his pitch.

Sheffield United News View: A difficult one to get done

The sheer interest in Kent from other clubs seems to be making this hard for United. With the likes of Fenerbahce involved and other PL sides, it does seem a tricky deal to do.

Kent is the right sort of player the Blades need to look at though. A good age, with experience at a big club and with a point to maybe prove back in England, he’d be a smart free transfer.

The summer will likely see more names thrown our way. Kent seems to be one that will slip the net for now, but it’s good to see United at least being in the mix for such players.
