Sean Dyche ‘sets sights’ on wantaway Leeds attacker; deal can be done for £16m

Sean Dyche ‘sets sights’ on wantaway Leeds attacker; deal can be done for £16m

Everton have reportedly made Leeds United winger Jack Harrison one of their primary transfer targets, as Sean Dyche looks to improve his squad.

The Toffees came unbearably close to relegation last term, with the team clearly lacking in attacking areas. So, Dyche has set out to change that.

Indeed, Everton scored just 34 Premier League goals – the second-worst record in the division.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin endured another injury-plagued campaign, while summer signing Neal Maupay netted just once in 28 league appearances.

Clearly, Everton need players who can create and score and Harrison certainly fits into that category.

Last season, the 26-year-old scored five goals and made seven assists in 36 league appearances. This gives him an average of 0.33 goal contributions per game.

However, he was unable to prevent Leeds from dropping into the Championship. Now, Harrison has his eye on a swift return to the Premier League.

Newcastle and Aston Villa have also been linked with the Englishman. So, Everton will need to move quickly if they want to sign him.

Everton can sign Harrison for £16m

Now, according to Football Insider, Everton have ‘set their sights’ on signing Harrison this summer.

He only signed a new deal with Leeds this year, but, due to a clause in his contract, the winger will be available for just £16m.

Also, it’s thought he would be keen on a switch to Everton, because he has family in the Northwest of England.

The big sticking point for Everton, however, is whether or not they have £16m to spend.

The Merseyside club are currently under investigation by the Premier League for alleged breaches of their Profit and Sustainability rules.

Therefore, Everton have to check with the PL before they make any significant investments, such as signing a new player.

With that in mind, Dyche may be forced to sell some of his players before he buys anyone this summer.

One Blues star who could potentially leave is Amadou Onana. The talented 20-year-old has interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Everton don’t want to lose the Belgium international. But, they could be forced to sell him for the right price. Reports suggest that Everton would consider offers of £61.5m for him this summer.

Jordan Pickford has also been linked with a move to Man Utd. So, he could be another potential sale for the Toffees, too.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Everton make a concrete offer for Harrison in the next couple of weeks. But, as mentioned, they may have to sell someone before they do.
