Sheffield United hold talks with ‘sensational’ 26-year-old forward

Sheffield United are reportedly among a host of clubs who have opened talks to sign soon-to-be out of contract Rangers forward, Ryan Kent.

That’s according to TeamTalk anyway, who claim the Blades are part of a cluster of clubs wanting to sign the former Liverpool youngster.

Kent is set to depart Ibrox for nothing and is not short of options. The likes of Leeds, Burnley and clubs abroad are all said to be keen.

Sheffield United looking at Ryan Kent

TeamTalk claims that the Blades have held talks with the Rangers man in the last few weeks. How true that is, is open to debate, given United only got promoted a couple of weeks back and the embargo has not long since been lifted.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Further, a report from Rangers site Ibrox Noise has also suggested Kent has agreed to a pre-contract with Fenerbahce.

Kent, 26, was one of the key players for the Gers as they had success under Steven Gerrard and then reached the Europa League final.

However, he has failed to agree fresh terms and is now set to move on. Kent can play in a number of attacking positions, including both wide areas.

The type of player United need

Going into the next season, Sheffield United are going to need players who can make an impact in the final third.

That means carefully selecting players who know what it takes, can produce the goods, and will need no time settling into proceedings.

Kent, who was lauded as a ‘sensational‘ talent by Steven Gerrard, is clearly someone who can do the business in the final third. And on a free, he’d be the ideal sort of signing for the Blades.

However, it does very much seem there is other interest here and that means more money on the table. It could be the Blades move on from this one quite quickly.

But it’s good to see links with such talent. And in a way, shows what United are looking at ahead of the next season.
