Explore the Depths for Zonaite

Tears of the Kingdom – Link surrounded by Zonaite veins

While Zonaite can be obtained in a number of ways, including defeating enemy Constructs in the Sky Islands, you’ll find the greatest concentration of the ore within the Depths. Whether by killing enemies and mini-bosses or mining it from ore veins, there is plenty of Zonaite to be found in the dark underworld of Hyrule. You will find Zonaite ore veins throughout the Depths, but certain places are ideal for farming it.

The best place to start in is the Hyrule Field Chasm (-0254, -0299, -0012), which will likely be the first chasm you visit if you follow Josha’s quest line from Lookout Landing. Once you land, head southwest until you reach Daphnes Canyon Mine (-1078, -0558, -0514). There, you’ll notice a massive collection of Zonaite in the area. You can also collect the Miner’s Top at the top of the stone structure there.

Not only can you find Zonaite in the Depths, but you can also collect some Crystallized Charges while you’re at it. Some mini-bosses throughout the Depths also drop Large Crystallized Charges worth 20 Crystallized Charges, like the Hinox located around -1109, -0803, -0477 in the Hyrule Field Chasm. You can also collect these from chests, which are typically found in ruins or enemy forts.

Visit the Great Abandoned Central Mine to Purchase Crystallized Charges

Link visiting Great Abandoned Central Mine in Tears of the Kingdom

Once you’ve amassed a great deal of Zonaite, you’ll want to find a shop where you can exchange it for Crystallized Charges. The best place to do that is in the Great Abandoned Central Mine (-0821, -1940, -0523) in the Great Plateau North Chasm (-0666, -1508, 0027).

Start by diving into the Great Plateau North Chasm (-0666, -1508, 0027), which can be reached easily via the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower. Head south until you reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine, whihc is easy to spot from a distance, as it is a giant stone building with lights on it. Once you arrive, touch the green glyph, and you’ll be given the highly useful Autobuild ability. Unfortunately, shortly after learning how to use it, you’ll have to defeat a boss before you can progress any further. Defeating the boss will unlock the shop in that area.

You can purchase Crystallized Charges for 3 Zonaite and Large Crystallized Charges for 3 Large Zonaite. If you have enough to buy out the entire stock (and you still have plenty of Zonaite left) fast-travel to any place with a bed, rest until the next day, and return to the shop to take advantage of its replenished stock. You’ll need at least 100 Crystallized Charges to make any upgrades to your Energy Cell.

Exchange Crystallized Charges for Energy Wells at the Crystal Refinery

Finally, bring your Crystallized Charges to the Crystal Refinery, which is located inside a cave with the Nachoyah Shrine on the Great Sky Island. Fast-travel to the Shrine, and you’ll see a Steward Construct resting immediately ahead of you. Speak with him and select “Get producing!” to exchange your Crystallized Charges for Energy Wells. After a short cinematic, you’ll receive a number of Energy Wells corresponding to the number of Crystallized Charges you gave the Construct. Note that you’ll need three Energy Wells to fully upgrade a battery.
