The Kent steam train that takes you to a vineyard for wine tasting

A much-loved Kent steam heritage railway and a family-owned vineyard in the High Weald have paired up to create a not-to-be missed outing. The Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells is running return trips to Eridge for the Wildwood Vineyard Wine Tasting and Ride starting next weekend.

Passengers can travel by steam or heritage train from Tunbridge Wells West station to Eridge Station, where they will be met by vineyard owner Paul Olding who will take them on the seven minutes’ walk to Wildwood for the tour and tasting. Afterwards everyone will walk back to Eridge Station for the return train to Tunbridge Wells West.

The dates are June 10 and 11, July 1 and 2, July 29 and 30, August 19 and 20, September 2 and 3. Passengers board the train in Tunbridge Wells at 11.30am, to arrive at Eridge at 11.55am.

The wine tasting is between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, after which visitors can enjoy the vineyard at their leisure. The return from Eridge Station is at 2.45pm, to arrive in Tunbridge Wells at 3.10pm.

Train tickets are £10 per adult or £9 per senior (60+). After booking your train ticket, book your wine tasting by emailing the Wildwood Vineyard: tour and guided tastings are £10 per person; guided tastings £7 per person.

How to book

Advanced booking is essential to guarantee your wine tasting tour at Wildwood Vineyard. Tickets must also be booked in advance to travel on the 11:30am train from Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge and the 2.45pm train from Eridge to Tunbridge Wells West at Spa Valley Railway.
