“The Lights Go Out and They Can’t Finish the Game” – Liverpool Fan and Wrexham’s Paul Mullin Reveals FA Cup Final Dilemma as He Bags Top Scorer Award

Wrexham ended this year’s football calendar on a high note. The club managed to pull off promotion to League Two by winning the National League with a record of 111 points. Aside from this, they also had a good FA Cup run. Ryan Reynolds’ side reached the fourth round of the competition but was eliminated by Sheffield United.

Yesterday, Pep Guardiola’s City managed to outclass Erik Ten Hag’s United to clinch the silverware. Other club supporters were in a dilemma as to who they should back, and so was Mullin. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, the striker wanted both Manchester clubs to lose the final.

“We had a good run in the FA Cup and ran Sheffield United really close so we should be really proud of ourselves but obviously disappointed to lose,” he said while talking about the FA Cup. “But today, it is not the occasion I wanted with two Manchester clubs and supporting Liverpool but it will be good to see [Erling] Haaland and co.”

The striker admitted his love for Liverpool and says he doesn’t want either of the team to win the final. “I hope it goes to penalties and the lights go out and they can’t finish the game. That would be the ideal scenario! But I am a Liverpool fan, loved it this time last year when Liverpool were here.”

Nonetheless, the striker was looking forward to the exciting final. “It is still going to be an unbelievable occasion and to watch these players, who are unbelievable up close, is something to look forward to,” he added. Indeed, it was a surprising admission from Mullin, who also talked about winning the golden boot.

While Mullin couldn’t see his favorite side in the final, the player managed to win the golden boot. Speaking about winning the prestigious individual award, he said, “It is unbelievable to be even in with a chance of winning the Golden Ball.” The Wrexham star was very proud to win the award.

Mullin won the award by scoring eight goals in the competition. “It is something I am really proud of when my little boy goes up to be able to show that his dad was able to win something I’d look back on my career and be really proud of. It is the cherry on top, the focus all season has been to get promoted,” he added.
