The tiny Essex café ten minutes from a beach that is loved by Olly Murs
A small café in Leigh-on-Sea had a famous customer visit over the weekend when pop star Olly Murs came for some food. The Essex-born music sensation decided to visit The Brunch Co, on Broadway, over the bank holiday weekend – just a short time before he is due to get married.
Olly, 39, might have become used to visiting arenas across the country to perform, but he has always stayed true to his roots having been born and raised in Witham. The former star coach on The Voice has been a co-owner of local non-league side Coggeshall Town FC and has a special homecoming concert in Colchester planned for this August.

During his visit to The Brunch Co, Olly posed for a picture with the team of staff members who had served him. In a post on their social media, the café said: “‘Our hearts skip, skip a beat’ when @ollymurs comes to visit us! What a pleasure it was to have him in today! We hope to see you again soon!”
It is no surprise that Olly is a fan of The Brunch Co given some of the glowing reviews for them on TripAdvisor. One person said: “Have visited multiple times and if possible I think it gets better every time.
“The staff are so friendly & attentive, even when it’s super busy.
Whether visiting as a couple, with parents, with children or a baby it’s always been a good experience.”
Another person said: “I’ve visited Brunch Co on many occasions now and tried a variety of dishes on the menu. My partner and I love it and go here with our 1-year-old all the time.
“The English breakfast is excellent, we also enjoy the smoked salmon dish (smokenado) and LOVE the chicken skewers. Such a good restaurant and very welcoming to families.”
At the end of last year, Olly revealed a Chelmsford restaurant as being one of his favourite places to visit for a meal out. The hugely talented pop star – whose new album ‘Marry Me’ was released on December 2 – said he enjoys all sorts of cuisines and loves to visit one specific Chinese restaurant in Essex.
“I don’t go to a pub too often but me and the Mrs will occasionally go to Morton where there’s the Dog and Pickle,” Olly told EssexLive. “They do roast dinners and it’s a great place in Essex to go to. I live over in Epping so Sheesh in Chigwell is a nice place to visit.
“I actually went to Alec’s Restaurant in Brentwood recently and that was lovely. But I love Zenxi in Chelmsford – it’s a Chinese. I’ve been there quite a lot recently. Fred and Doug’s in Epping is also good. I love my food!”
