Tottenham Hotspur manager target makes big decision on future which impacts Blackburn Rovers

Arne Slot has vowed to remain with Dutch side Feyenoord, thus ending the prospect of a move to Tottenham Hotspur and with it, the possibility of Blackburn Rovers’ Jon Dahl Tomasson replacing him there.

Slot had been heavily linked with the vacancy at the North London club, who do not have a permanent boss at present, and there was the prospect that it could lead to Rovers boss Tomasson heading to the Netherlands as a result. Ryan Mason is in caretaker charge at Spurs until the end of the season.

The 44-year-old Slot has just led the Rotterdam side to this season’s Dutch first division title. However, he has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by vowing to stay at Feyenoord and is even looking to pen a contract extension.

He said: “I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other clubs’ interest in me. Although I am thankful my wish is to stay at Feynoord and continue working on what we created last year.

“There is not – and there has not been – transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting was exclusively for an extension. All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord.”

It appears to put an end in this episode to any speculation surrounding Rovers boss Tomasson. The Eredivisie champions have been linked with Tomasson previously and there was the potential he could have been lined up to replace Slot, had the latter moved on.

However, Rovers sporting director Gregg Broughton made it clear last week that no approach had been made for Tomasson – whose family are still based in Holland, but exploring the possibility of moving over to England.
