Klopp needs to oversee a big summer at Liverpool

Plenty of reasons have been cited in Liverpool’s early season downfall, but the club finally seem to be back on track after seven straight wins.

Jurgen Klopp will hope to continue that momentum into next campaign to once again get the club to compete for major honours.

But to do that, Liverpool will need a mixture of a properly prepared pre-season and shrewd recruitment.

Liverpool pre-season fixtures

The Reds are returning to Singapore for their pre-season tour.

They will face fellow Premier League side Leicester City before taking on European heavyweights Bayern Munich.

Liverpool may have ended their interest in Jude Bellingham, but his England teammate Mason Mount remains a possibility.

Bayern Munich outcast Ryan Gravenberch is thought to be on the shortlist as well while Wolves‘ Matheus Nunes has been mentioned.

Liverpool are well stocked for firepower in attack but another central defender is also an option, with Levi Colwill and Ajax star Jurrien Timber both of interest.

They could be in the market for a new backup goalkeeper for Alisson but that will only depend on any potential exits this summer.

Liverpool transfers out

The Merseysiders have a number of players out of contract the end of the season, with five players set to leave on free transfers.

Roberto Firmino remains the most high profile of the outgoings, with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adrian all leaving as well.

James Milner will leave Anfield after eight glittering years and is close to finalising a deal with Brighton, talkSPORT understands.

Liverpool do have an option to make Arthur Melo’s loan deal permanent however he is almost certainly set to return to Juventus.

The club may also face bids for Caoimhin Kelleher, with Brentford reportedly keen, and out-of-favour Nathaniel Phillips.

Rhys Williams is another Liverpool will entertain offers for after his loan spell at Blackpool was cut short in January.
