Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features much of the same locations and biomes of Hyrule as in Breath of the Wild with snowy mountains, clear meadows, dry deserts, and the Death Mountain volcano making a return. Surprisingly, one of the newer areas in the sequel is at the bottom of a well. Wells can now be found around Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and feature a much spacious underground than a simple hole in the dirt.

There are 58 wells that Link can jump down and explore, which means players will have to get themselves out of those wells at least that many times. Since there is no Lassie to call for help, players will have to figure out how to literally get themselves out of a hole. This guide will show players a few methods for escaping wells.

How to Get Out of a Well in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Wells dot the landscape of this somewhat new Hyrule and are usually found where people reside, which makes sense considering they would be the ones to benefit from them. They can be found mostly beside horse stables and within towns. Some of the areas underneath the wells may be sprawling with multiple caverns, or be confined to a simple cave. Regardless of how big the underground can be, these methods will help out in a pinch.

Use a Ladder

Most of the wells in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have ladders that players can climb down the well with, which players may not see at first if inclined to simply jump down the watering hole. The ladders are long enough that players can use them to exit the underground. Some of the wells actually do not have ladders, which means these other methods become more necessary.

Use the Ascend Ability

The Ascend ability will send Link straight up through any somewhat flat surface above him and out to the other side. The underground cave ceilings are often low enough that players do not have to find a spot to easily Ascend back to the surface.

Fast Travel

Players are able to fast travel while underground. It is very useful for when players are done with a cave and would like to warp to another part of Hyrule, and there is no need to climb back up the ladder to go back where they came.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
