A Candidate For Unsung Player Of The Year
If I had to pick a candidate for unsung player of the year, then Amari’i Bell would certainly be among my front-runners.
Signed from Blackburn Rovers, ahead of the 2021/2022 season, the Jamaican international may not have made the best of starts to his Luton Town career, indeed I can still remember remarks, from Blackburn Rovers fans, suggesting they were pleased to see him leave Ewood Park.
But since signing, Amari’i has steadily improved and in the second half of the season, was one of our most consistent performers.
With the Hatters hit by injuries to their central defenders, Sonny Bradley and Reece Burke, Bell stepped into a back three and performed admirably. His previous position of right back/wing back saw him go on surging runs, pushing the Hatters forward but always having an eye on his defensive responsibilities.
His genuine pace has always been an asset and has gotten him into positions to retrieve the ball when others haven’t quite been up to standard.
For a player picked up on a free transfer, after his contract at Blackburn ran down, he has proved to be a genuine asset and will now, hopefully, be given the chance to shine in the Premier League.
But I’m not the only one who recognises what he has achieved, at Kenilworth Road, especially in the second half of the promotion gaining season, as social media shows:
You were absolutely brilliant last season, so much improved. Loved your surging runs forward. Let’s see you do it to Arsenal, Villa, Chelsea etc

But praise isn’t just forthcoming from Luton supporters with those who support clubs he has played for previously, also having their say:
Congratulations Amarii, always believed you had the potential to go far, now you are a premier league player as well as playing for your country ! Good luck From a Fleetwood fan 👏👏👏👏

In summarization I’d have no qualms about proposing Amari’i Bell for the unsung ‘Player of the Year’ award, is it something you concur with, or would you care to disagree?
