Aberdeenshire youngster wins cash prize for efforts to keep streets clean

An Aberdeenshire teenager has become the youngest winner of a lottery competition encouraging people across Scotland to keep their community’s streets clean.

Finley Redmond from Aboyne bagged £250 thanks to Keep Scotland Beautiful’s partnership with the LitterLotto app.

Launched in November last year, the scheme encourages Scots to bin their litter and pays out weekly prizes ranging from £50 to £500.

Finley, 13, is a keen litter picker and his dad Chris will receive the prize on his behalf.

Finley said: “I’ve always been a litter picker. I am passionate about the environment and have always tried to help it and just recently I planted 12 trees with greenspace.”

Not only has Finley been working hard to keep his local area clean and tidy, but he convinced his mum, dad, brother and eight others to get involved too.
