All the roadworks and road closures taking place across the North East this week

This list of road closures and roadworks will help drivers to plan their journeys across the North East this week.

We have rounded up all the work taking place in our region, in places including Newcastle, Northumberland, County Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside. While some roads will be fully closed, others will have lane closures or temporary traffic measures.

Diversion routes may also be in place in some areas. Drivers are urged to make allowances for these closures and alter their travel arrangements if necessary. The following list is for the week from Monday June 5 to Sunday June 11.

  • Stoneygate Lane in both directions closed due to long-term roadworks from B1426 Sunderland Road to Stoneygate. Between 23:00 and 7:00 Mondays to Sundays from 23:00 on 15th May to 7:00 on 20th July.

  • A167 closed due to the Great North 10K between A186 ( Newcastle Upon Tyne ) and Church Street ( Gateshead ). From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • St Mary’s Place closed due to the Great North 10K between College Street and B1318 Percy Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • John Dobson Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Saville Place and Northumberland Road. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • A167(M) Southbound closed due to the Great North 10K between B1318 and A193 Newbridge Street. From 4:00 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • A167(M) closed due to the Great North 10K between A193 Newbridge Street and A186. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Blackett Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Grey Street and B1307 Percy Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Claypath closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Millennium Place and Providence Row. From 14:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Claypath closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between A690 and Providence Row. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 16:00 until 22:00 on 14th July.

  • College Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Northumberland Road and Saville Place. From 9:45 until 11:30 on 2nd July.

  • College Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Northumberland Road and B1307 St Mary’s Place. From 9:45 until 11:30 on 2nd July.

  • Court Lane closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Elvet Crescent and New Elvet. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Ellison Place closed due to the Great North 10K between College Street and Lovers Lane. From 9:45 until 11:30 on 2nd July.

  • Elvet Bridge closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Saddler Street and New Elvet. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Elvet Bridge closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Saddler Street and New Elvet. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Elvet Waterside closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Territorial Lane and Baths Bridge. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Elvet Waterside closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Territorial Lane and Baths Bridge. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Framwelgate Waterside closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Millburngate and Sidegate. From 15:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Framwelgate Waterside closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Lambton Walk and Millburngate. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Green Lane closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Old Elvet and River Wear. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Hallgarth Street closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Church Street and A177 Mount Joy Crescent. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Hood Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Pilgrim Street and Grey Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • John Dobson Street closed due to the Great North 10K between Carliol Street and New Bridge Street West. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • John Dobson Street closed due to the Great North 10K from New Bridge Street West to B1309 Durant Road. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Leazes Terrace closed due to Newcastle United Foundation Family Event. Between Terrace Place / Leazes Crescent / Leazes Terrace and St James’ St. From 9:30 until 10:30 on 1st July.

  • Market Street closed due to the Great North 10K between New Bridge Street West and John Dobson Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Millburngate closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between North Road and Framwelgate Waterside. From 6:00 until 10:00 on 8th July.

  • No through traffic allowed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs on Millburngate between Framwelgate Waterside and North Road. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • New Bridge Street West closed due to the Great North 10K between John Dobson Street and Blackett Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • New Elvet closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between A690 Leazes Road and Hallgarth Street. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • New Elvet closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Old Elvet and A690 Leazes Road. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • North Bailey closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between South Bailey and Owengate. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • North Road closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Millburngate and Crossgate. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • North Road closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Millburngate and Crossgate. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Northumberland Road closed due to the Great North 10K between B1309 John Dobson Street and College Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Northumberland Road closed due to the Great North 10K between Lovers Lane and College Street. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Old Elvet closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between New Elvet and Green Lane. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Old Elvet closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between New Elvet and Green Lane. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.

  • Saddler Street closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Owengate and Silver Street. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Silver Street closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Leazes Road and North Road. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Silver Street closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between Leazes Road and North Road. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 22:00 on 14th July.

  • South Bailey closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Prebends Bridge and North Bailey. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • Strawberry Place closed due to Newcastle United Foundation Family Event. Between A189 / Strawberry Place (St James) and Strawberry Place / Strawberry Lane (Leazes Village). From 9:30 until 10:30 on 1st July.

  • Territorial Lane closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Elvet Waterside and Old Elvet. From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • The A177 closed due to the Durham Miners Gala between Hallgarth Street and Church Street Head (New Inn traffic lights). From 4:00 until 20:00 on 8th July.

  • The B1318 closed due to the Great North 10K between B1307 St Mary’s Place and Forsyth Road. From 8:30 until 13:00 on 2nd July.

  • Walkergate closed due to the Durham 5K and 10K runs between A690 Leazes Road and Back Silver Street. Races begin at 7:00 PM. From 18:00 until 21:30 on 14th July.
